Ragnarok is finally here and millions of gamers are tucking into Kratos' final journey through the Nine Realms. There's plenty of things to do and see in the game, but make sure you're grabbing the game's many collectibles, as thorough God of War players will be treated to a little reference to another all-time PlayStation great - Horizon Zero Dawn.
Early on in God of War Ragnarok, you'll find a Kvasir Poem, one of the collectible types you'll stumble across on your journey. As the name suggests, each of these collectibles gives you a short poem to read through before you get back the butchering and maiming. It's in one of the game's first Kvasir Poems that you'll find a shoutout to Horizon and series protagonist Aloy. The Kvasir must've been big fans of Horizon Forbidden West or something.
First discovered and shared by Redditor Dbaus, the poem itself doesn't outright name Horizon Zero Dawn, but it does mention a warrior with "red as blood" hair who takes down "creatures of metal," and I'm struggling to think of any other red-haired robot wreckers. Knowing PlayStation and its fondness for including nods to other PlayStation properties in its games, it's likely that this won't be the last little easter egg we see.
Of course, it could also just be God of War Ragnarok returning the favor, as there are several easter eggs involving Kratos and Atreus in Horizon Forbidden West. For example, players can find a large axe embedded in a tree nearby a wooden cabin in the mountains, which is clearly a nod to the opening hours of God of War (2018). There are other little nods across the Forbidden West as well, including an archery range and a Kratos-esque face paint for Aloy.
