For the first time in the series' history, God of War is coming to PC. Much like Uncharted 4, it's set to arrive sometime in early 2022. And today, Sony unveiled a bit more, showing new God of War footage while revealing the system requirements.
It's joining the next DLSS push from Nvidia which is also bringing the feature to Horizon Zero Dawn, ICARUS, Diablo 2: Resurrected, and Lemnis Gate - all in December. If you don't know, DLSS is an AI-upscaling technique that renders your game in a lower resolution before rebuilding it in a higher one, giving you improved performance. You can switch between various options such as quality and performance, dictating whether you want the game to look better or run better.
Meanwhile, Nvidia Reflex is a technique that cuts through render queues to alleviate GPU intensiveness - that's because the GPU and CPU work together more in sync. According to Nvidia, this improvement can result in 33 percent better latency. All around, this means that God of War should have boosted performance on launch for PC, a stark contrast from Horizon Zero Dawn which was flooded with negative Steam reviews citing poor performance. However, Horizon is also getting DLSS so it too should see a performance boost.
With it coming to PC, God of War even has "numerous graphical and experiential enhancements to make full use of the [system's] capabilities," so you can expect to find higher-resolution shadows, improved screen-space reflections, enhanced Ground Truth Ambient Occlusion, and Screen Space Directional Occlusion effects along with higher detail assets and higher rendering resolutions. The frame rate is even uncapped, so you can dot about with the Godslayer himself in 4k 60fps, your system willing.
However, the minimum recommended specs for an average of 720p and 30fps are an Nvidia GTX 960, an Intel i5-2500k (or AMD Ryzen 3 1,200), 8GB of RAM, Windows 10, and 70GB of space. If you want 4k at 60fps, you'll need an RTX 3080, Intel i9-9900 (or AMD RYzen 9 3950X), and 16GB of RAM.
