PlayStation has truly debuted some iconic and memorable characters in its lifetime. There is no question that Kratos from the God of War series is truly a force to be reckoned with. After beating up pretty much every Greek God and mythological figure your history teacher has taught you, Kratos went to the Scandinavian lands, where, you guessed it, he beat the crap out of everyone there too—with just a little help from his son, Atreus.

In the future, we will see this god overcome more challenges and obstacles on his bloody path. We just hope the Bifrost Realms are prepared—which they aren't. Ragnarok should be the least of the Norse Gods' worries if Kratos is still breathing. We have witnessed the dismantling of many gods, giants, and beasts with Kratos's hands. But how would he fare against other godlike entities? We take a look at the godlike characters from comics, games, and movies, to see if they could survive or just be another body in Kratos' massive graveyard.

Updated December 4, 2022, by Michael Llewellyn: Kratos is one of those characters that inspire the imaginations of fans of "who would win a fight" scenarios. Whether it's fighting against Marvel and DC superheroes, there's always a good idea in waiting. Even literary characters with similar personalities, like Conan the Barbarian, get thrown into the mix. Of course, there's no way of knowing unless there's a crossover, but it's always fun to speculate. This list is updated to include more characters for Kratos to beat up (post Ragnarok).

13 Gene - God Hand

Godhand - Gene hitting and enemy with the Godhand
  • Platform: PS2
  • Developer: Clover Studio
  • Launch: 2006

Cult classic Godhand was created by Shinji Mikami, the same man behind Resident Evil 4, Vanquish, and the Evil Within series. It's a bonkers anime-inspired action game and a terrific power fantasy with its lead character Gene.

Could Gene beat Kratos in a fight? That's unlikely! Gene stands a good chance with two God Hands, but he spends most of the game fighting with the one superpowered arm. Kratos would probably take Gene's arm, beat him with it, and then fashion it into a new weapon to defeat the next super being he encounters.

12 The Prince - Prince Of Persia: Sands Of Time

The Prince standing on a pressure plate to lower a lift for him and Farah to progress in Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time
  • Platform: GBA, GameCube, PS2, and Xbox
  • Developer: Ubisoft
  • Launch: 2003

This is the first in the trilogy of Prince of Persia titles that saw the fantasy series rebooted during the PS2 era. The first is arguably the best, as the titular Prince joined Kratos on the irritatingly angry protagonist's bus that was so popular in the noughties.

However, even a more likable Prince of Persia would get beaten down by the God of War. The Prince possesses the power of time, a god-like power that allows him to find weaknesses. Unfortunately, he's still a mortal, and his time power has limits. Kratos already killed Cronos in God of War 3. Cronos is a titan and one of the Greek Gods of Time. If Kratos can beat a god of time as big Godzilla, then the Prince wouldn't stand a chance.

11 Lenneth - Valkyrie Profile

Lenneth Valkyrie profile - the power of battle maiden
  • Platform: Android, iOS, PS1, PS2, PSP, NDS, and PS4
  • Developer: Tri-Ace
  • Launch: 2000

Lenneth is one of the three powerful goddesses of fate tasked with preventing Ragnarok. She raises heroes from the dead and trains them to fight in the battle to end all battles. Lenneth is powerful and channels the magic of Odin, but ultimately, she's still a Valkyrie.

Kratos battled and killed several Valkyries in God of War 2018. They were some of his most challenging fights in the game, but he overcame them as he would Lenneth in a one-on-one fight.

10 Solas - Dragon Age: Inquisition

Solas is a snake from Dragon Age
  • Platform: PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One
  • Developer: BioWare
  • Launch: 2014

For the longest time, Solas seemed like a loyal companion who could help the Inquisitor as they dealt with the various enemies that tried to stop them in their tracks. However, as the story evolved, players finally realized that Solas was a betrayer who wanted to secure the power of the gods for himself.

While he was successful in this goal, he still can't hold a candle to the might of Kratos. The God of War won't flinch, even if Solas casts the most powerful magic spells in his arsenal. One swing of his Leviathan Axe is all that would be required to put the elven mage down for the count.

9 Bayonetta - Bayonetta

Bayonetta
  • Platform: PC, PS3, PS4, Switch, Wii U, Xbox 360, and Xbox One
  • Developer: PlatinumGames
  • Launch: 2009

Bayonetta is easily one of the greatest action game series around, with the bulk of its popularity attributed to the titular protagonist whose charming personality never fails to take center stage. Watching this Umbra Witch lay waste to the enemies in her path never fails to be entertaining.

However, regardless of how much of a fan-favorite Bayonetta's character might be, even her most devout followers wouldn't go so far as to say that she can survive a fight with Kratos. Her fancy moves and agility might be a valuable asset in this battle, but Kratos is simply cut from a different cloth and will waste no time in dishing out serious damage.

8 Cole MacGrath - Infamous

Infamous Festival of Blood Cole MacGrath feeds on his first victim
  • Platform: PS3
  • Developer: Sucker Punch Productions
  • Launch: 2009

After an unfortunate incident leads to Cole MacGrath gaining a wealth of electric superpowers, he decides to get to the bottom of this mystery and destroy any enemies in his path. This leads to the protagonist of the Infamous series embarking on a journey where he uses his destructive electrical powers to great effect... although whether it's for good or bad is anybody's guess.

However, all the electricity in the world won't be enough for this character to stop Kratos in his path. It wouldn't take the God of War long to close the distance and negate any potential advantage, leading to a beatdown that might be hard to watch if it ever came to pass.

7 Chernabog - Disney's Fantasia

Chernabog Disney villain
  • Platform: Movie
  • Producer: Disney
  • Launch: 1940

Although his role in Disney movies is minor, Chernabog from the film Fantasia has remained an iconic villain for the brand simply for his lone iconic appearance.

While there isn't much to go by, we know that this God of Evil has two major weaknesses; church bells and more importantly for Kratos, sunlight. If Kratos still carries around Helios' disembodied head from God Of War 3, one solar flare into the face of Chernabog should be enough to send him packing.

6 Shinnok - Mortal Kombat Mythologies - Sub Zero

Shinnock Mortal Kombat
  • Platform: LCD Game, PS1, and N64
  • Developer: Midway Games and Avalanche Studios
  • Launch: 1997

A fallen Elder God who has ruled over Mortal Kombat's version of Hell for many years, Shinnok is one of the most powerful warriors in the series. The former God of War Kratos though would have a field day with Shinnok.

Although Shinnok has competed with other violent gods before, he's never met somebody with the sheer ferocity and determination of Kratos. While Shinnok has many tricks up his sleeve and can likely manipulate Kratos in a long-term struggle, Kratos' blades would rip Shinnok apart in a one-off battle.

5 Thor - God Of War: Ragnarok

God Of War Ragnarok, Thor Standing In The Distance
  • Platform: PS4 and PS5
  • Developer: Santa Monica Studios
  • Launch: 2022

Even though they share some mead, these warrior gods were never going to hang out at a pub on Saturday afternoon after what Kratos has done in the events of the latest God of War game. Thor, or Thor Odinson, is the God of Thunder, who wields his trusty hammer, Mjölnir.

If anyone can get down and dirty with him, it's Kratos. Thor possesses incredible strength, speed, and power, but so does Kratos. Kratos can go toe-toe with him, as proven in the epic opening fight of God of War: Ragnarok. Without going into spoiler territory, the first battle of the super beings in Ragnarok is a spectacle and makes the fight with Baldur seem tame by comparison.

4 Aang - Avatar: The Last Airbender

Aang pressing knuckles together
  • Platform: Comics, Movie, TV Series, and Video Games
  • Publisher: Nickelodeon
  • Launch: 2005

Aang is the main character of the beloved animated series Avatar: The Last Airbender. He has Mastered the four elements of earth, fire, water, and air. He is powerful with agility and skills to match.

This would be a good fight, but Kratos would come out on top. Kratos has an array of magical abilities to protect him, as well as experience against elemental entities like Poseidon and Ares that gives him the insight necessary to win.

Holding back Aang is his sense of morality, but he does have The Avatar State as his trump card, which, if Aang was in any dire situation, he can utilize to harness raw power and near unlimited bending capabilities. However, the edge goes to Kratos, as he possesses bigger strength, killer mentality, elemental prowess, and magical abilities and items that can trump the Avatar.

3 Raiden - Mortal Kombat

Raiden preparing lightning attack
  • Platform: Arcade, Android, GBA, iOS, Megadrive/Genesis, N64, NDS, PS1, PS2, PS3, PS4, PSP, PS Vita, Switch, Xbox, Xbox 360, and Xbox One
  • Developer: Midway, Avalanche, and Netherealm Studios
  • Launch: 1992

Finish Him! That's exactly what we would hear after Kratos disposes of Raiden in Mortal Kombat. You probably did that when he was a playable character on the PS3 version of Mortal Kombat (2011). Rightfully so, as Kratos has the power to go up against the Earthrealm Defenders, Outworld Rulers, and even the Elder Gods.

Raiden has lost to powerful foes such as Shao Khan (who lost to the mortal Liu Kang), so it wouldn't be a stretch to think that Kratos can topple the god as well. Again, back to the argument with Thor, Kratos beat Zeus. He would make short work of Raiden.

2 Wonder Woman DC Comics

Wonder Woman holding Lasso of Truth
  • Platform: Comics, Movies, TV, and Video Games
  • Publisher: DC Comics
  • Launch: 1941

Wonder Woman is an Amazonian from the lands of Themyscira. Wonder Woman possesses many abilities such as flight, super strength, durability, speed, and agility. As well as magic-infused weapons like the Lasso Of Truth, Sword of Athena, and Bracelets of Submission.

Wonder Woman has challenged and beaten gods like Ares, and became the God of War, just like Kratos, which makes this matchup interesting. However, we give Kratos the upper hand with more magical weapons in his arsenal, including the Blade of Olympus capable of killing her. Kratos also defeated other spawns of Zeus from Hercules to Perseus and Zeus himself, which we would think a battle against Diana will end in the same result — death.

1 Ganon - The Legend Of Zelda

Ganon's boar form
  • Platform: 3DS, GB, GBA, GBC, GameCube, NES, SNES, Switch, and Wii U
  • Developer: Nintendo
  • Launch: 1986

Now, this is a doozie. We know Ganon really can't be killed by Kratos because he doesn't possess Light Arrows or the iconic Master Sword, both blessed by the spirits of The Legend of Zelda. However, in a straight-up fight, Kratos can wash Ganon in basically any form Ganon desires.

Kratos has faced off against titans, gods, and trolls before, so Ganon wouldn't be new to the formula. All he needs to do is find where Master Sword is held, and he'll make sure Ganon doesn't get resurrected again.
