Swedish esports organization GODSENT has officially returned to Counter-Strike after ceasing operations last year. The company resumed operations after merging with The Final Tribe in September. GODSENT has now signed the former SMASH Esports roster, who left their previous organization yesterday.
GODSENT was founded in 2016 by three-time CS:GO Major-winning in-game leader Markus “pronax” Wallsten and investor Tomas Martin. Later that same year, the organization signed Fnatic’s star trio of Robin “flusha” Rönnquist, Jesper “JW” Wecksell, and Freddy “KRIMZ” Johansson. Subsequent roster swaps with Fnatic eventually resulted in GODSENT losing their Legends spot at the Eleague Atlanta Major in 2017. The Swedish team qualified for the Atlanta event through the Minor circuit. The team had little international success in the year that followed. A report published in January of 2018 revealed the GODSENT owners were looking to sell their stake in the company. Their CS:GO team was bought out by Red Reserve in June of that year, and the organization announced that they would be ceasing operations a week later.
The organization remained dormant until September of this year, when they merged with Swedish esports organization The Final Tribe. The Final Tribe sponsored teams in Dota 2, League of Legends, Fortnite, and Hearthstone, along with their CS:GO division. After the merger, all teams now play under the GODSENT name. Co-owner Pronax has also returned to the organization to lead the CS:GO team in a managerial position.
Representing GODSENT in Counter-Strike is the ex-SMASH Esports roster, who left their former organization yesterday. The team was formed in late 2018 as NoChance, original members Kevin “kRYSTAL” Amend and Mikail “Maikelele” Bill the only two still remaining. The mixed-European lineup is led by kRYSTAL, who has played under the Penta, Sprout, and Rogue banners in the past. Former mousesports and Cloud9 rifler Martin “STYKO” Styk and ex-Ninjas in Pyjamas star Maikelele add some recognition to the lineup. Jesse “zehN” Linjala and Pavle “Maden” Bošković complete the roster. Pronax's former Fnatic teammate Jonatan "Devilwalk" Lundberg currently serves as the team's coach.
GODSENT is next expected to appear at the WePlay! Forge of Masters Season 2 Finals in Kiev, Ukraine. The tournament begins on November 15th, where GODSENT is scheduled to face off against ForZe in their opening match. The lineup is also scheduled to take part in the European Champions Cup later this month.
