Sorry folks – unless you're a billionaire, you won't be able to pick up the exclusive "My Ticket Outta Here" edition of upcoming Golf Club: Wasteland. Selling for a cool $500 million, the game's creative director is hoping to use the funds to buy himself a "ticket off this doomed planet."

Golf Club: Wasteland is set to release in August, but Igor Simic – creative director on the game – doesn't think he'll be able to raise enough money to launch himself into space without offering up an ultra-exclusive version. In a satirical press release, Simic and the Demagog team discussed the decision to create a $500 million edition of Golf Club.

“Since tickets for a recent 12 or so minute private space flight went for $28 million a pop, I’m hoping $500 million should be enough to at least get me a cheap seat next to the toilets for the final Mars flight," Simic said. "I’ve been told the price also needs to be adequate enough so that the potential buyer can reassuringly brag about it to their friends and Forbes Magazine.”

It's all a bit bizarre – but so is the world we're living in today.

"Golf Club: Wasteland started off as pure satire," Simic continued. "The ultra-rich playing golf on the remains of civilization after initially fleeing to Mars as Earth crumbled thanks to consumerism, climate disaster, and Silicon Valley-fueled greed. Well, now I’m not laughing anymore. These rocket-obsessed billionaires like Musk, Bezos, and Branson are already packing their designer bags, so it's time I sorted out my own ticket off this doomed planet."

In case you were worried that massive rockets weren't doing enough damage to the Earth, Simic has you covered. The My Ticket Outta Here Edition of Golf Club: Wasteland will use floppy disks to help "maximize the amount of environmental damage" done by the game.

As for how the rest of Demagog feels about Simic stealing all the earnings for a trip off of Earth? They couldn't be more excited.

“At Demagog, we are a family and feel we are in this all together, no matter what. The reward is the work itself and knowing we achieved something great, as a family. Also please don’t try to unionize.”

All other versions of Golf Club: Wasteland beside the My Ticket Outta Here Edition are set to be destroyed or buried in a New Mexico landfill, but until then you can find it listed on Steam.
