We've visited Gotham a lot in games, movies, and TV shows. But games in particular have tapped into how sprawling and dense the crime-ridden fictional metropolis can be, whether we're darting around in Lego Batman or fighting thugs in Arkham City. But Gotham Knights is taking it a step further.

"It's pretty big," game director Geoff Ellenor told Game Informer. "I haven't put one map over the other, but our Gotham is a big place."

"For sure it's the biggest version of Gotham that has been represented in video games," executive producer Fleur Marty said. "The most important thing for us is its density and verticality. It has a lot of layers."

Batgirl Gotham Knights

Arkham Knight was a big leap for Gotham in games thanks to the Batmobile, letting us drive around the dingy streets, visiting each district, battling tanks before leaping out and grappling up to the rooftops. Gotham Knights is similar with the Batcycle, a new form of traversal that will let you quickly zip around Gotham City.

Lego Batman 2's Gotham meanwhile was much smaller, taking around 60 seconds to get from one end to the other, half that with a superspeed character. Gotham Knights is going to take it to a new level, supposedly the biggest yet, so be thankful that we don't have any Riddler trophies to hunt for this time. But a bigger map likely means there's more to do, so who knows how long we'll spend brawling by the Iceberg Lounge.

In other Gotham Knights news, fans are upset that something else isn't quite as big and expansive—Nightwing's ass. He's a lot flatter than in the comics, only made more noticable by his tight suit, and this drew so much attention from fans that the developers chimed in: "I can't promise we won't revisit this issue one day." Gotham City is big, but Nightwing's backside will have to wait. Maybe one day they'll thicken him up.
