More than a year since its original reveal, DC FanDome finally gave us another good look at Gotham Knights.

The newest trailer focuses on the grip that the Court of Owls has on Gotham City and acts as a story trailer. The trailer is narrated by the Penguin, who is talking to Nightwing about the Court of Owls. We then get to see each member of the Bat-family running into the Court for the first time, with Red Hood almost being captured by them and Tim Drake using his detective skills to try and find them.

We didn't get to see any in-depth gameplay from Gotham Knights, but a behind-the-scenes video shown after the initial trailer did give us a little more footage to pick apart. The gameplay footage actually focused more on single-player than cooperative play, and the story trailer we received also seemed to show the Bat-family separated from one another, implying that they come together because of the Court. The trailer ended without setting a date beyond 2022.

Gotham Knights is an action RPG developed by WB Games Montréal. While some have compared it to 2020's Marvel's Avengers, Gotham Knights differs in that it is not a live service. Players can choose from Nightwing, Batgirl, Robin, and Red Hood, and roam around an open-world Gotham City. It's also promising us that Batman is really dead, you guys. They mean it.

While the whole game can be played single-player, there is a co-op multiplayer mode too, which can be used at any time. Originally set to launch this year, Gotham Knights was pushed back to 2022, with the publisher stating that the development team needed more time to work on it than initially believed. This makes 2022 a big year for DC fans, as we'll also have Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League to get through, which is being developed by Rocksteady and is also set to release in 2022.

Gotham Knights will be available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC in 2022.
