Gotham Knights has a brand new, 15-minute, in-depth gameplay trailer that focuses on Red Hood and Nightwing, the two ex-Robins turned Bat-Family veterans. We see them traversing the rooftops of Gotham, fighting petty crime, and infiltrating the Court of Owls while also driving down Gotham's crime-laden streets in the new Batcycle, flying from point to point with the Fast-Bat.

The trailer begins with Nightwing brooding over the city - like father like son - before cutting to his newly revealed glider and trapeze, the former of which is a more technology-based invention that can hover and fly him upward, appearing like a smaller version of the Fast-Bat. The Fast-Bat, for reference, is part of the fast travel system, a giant black mechanical bat that brings our heroes to and from locations.

Red Hood meanwhile gets around by using his own soul energy with an ability called Mystical Leap, essentially creating a transparent green trampoline of spirits that he can use to get through the skies, but he also uses this in combination with the grapple to traverse the rooftops more easily. He has this ability because, like in the comics, he was resurrected.

However, Red Hood isn't as lethal as his comic counterpart. The rounds to his pistols are "non-lethal", although he does have piercing ammo and bombs that he can strap to enemies - "non-lethal", eh? They're used in his new Barrage ability in which he unleashes both pistols at foes to dole out devastating damage.

We also got a glimpse at two of Nightwing's abilities - Elemental Shock ignores armour and deals direct damage while Cryostasis freezes enemies to knock them out of action, giving you more breathing room to take on groups. But not every enemy will be so easy to take down. Later in the trailer, there's a new look at the Court of Owls' engineered superhumans who dress like the Talon in the comics. These are tougher to take down and can come back from death for more.

There's also a clearer insight into how character selection works. If you're playing solo, you can decide who you want to play as for each mission - in the trailer, Nightwing infiltrates a Court of Owl's base, but we see that same mission with the player using Red Hood, meaning that characters are interchangeable.

Aside from that, there's a further look at the Belfry - our base of operations - suit cosmetics, upgrades, multi-hero takedowns, the Batcycle, co-op, the workbench, the Bat Computer, the customizable UI, and more. But it all wraps up with a Batcycle cosmetic called 233 Kustom that you can earn by pre-ordering the game before its October launch.
