Seriously people, Batman is dead. He ain't coming back. No Lazarus Pit, no magic, just dead. Well, except for in the six-issue prequel comic for Gotham Knights. Batman: Gotham Knights - Gilded City was announced at DC's San Diego Comic-Con panel, and will reveal the events leading up to Gotham Knights. The series will be written by Evan Narcisse (Gen: LOCK, Rise of the Black Panther), with art by ABEL (Harley Quinn).

According to Popverse, the story will revolve around a deadly virus that has infected Gotham City and turned its citizens into mindless, rage-fueled maniacs. However, this is a result of events that took place in Gotham in the 1800s, and involves one of the city’s original masked vigilantes, Runaway. We may also find out how Batman meets his demise and totally, really stays dead.

The one and only Greg Capullo will create the covers for each of the six issues, each of which will also contain a code for an in-game cosmetic item. The first one will be a skin for the BOSO22 Batcycle. Redeeming all six items will result in you receiving a bonus seventh item as well. The first issue will launch on October 25, and will feature variant covers by Yanick Paquette, Christopher Mitten, Jim Lee, and Scott Williams.

In case you missed it, Batman will definitely be dead in Gotham Knights. Creative director Patrick Reddin made sure that everyone at the SDCC Comic-Con panel knew that Warner Bros. was not kidding about Batman being "really dead" and remaining dead at the end of the game. He also revealed that Joker will not feature either, but said, "I will not confirm or deny whether Harley is [in the game]".

For all the trophy hunters from the Arkham games, Reddin also revealed that there will be "exactly one" Riddler question mark in all of Gotham Knights.

However, there are no question marks about Nightwing's juicy behind, even from the former Boy Wonder's actor, Christopher Sean. Our very own Eric Switzer asked Sean if he thought Nightwing's ass should be bigger, to which he replied, "I'm not a flapjack kind of guy. I do my squats, I've done my lunges. They've padded me up quite a bit in the filming, so I feel that it's not an exact representation of what Nightwing should be. However I —" before being interrupted by cinematic director Wilson Mui.
