Rockstar isn't looking to sunset Grand Theft Auto Online anytime soon. After announcing that its ridiculously profitable Grand Theft Auto V would be coming to the PS5 in the future (as well as Xbox Series X), Rockstar parent company Take-Two has revealed that the online portion of its crime simulator will be getting exclusive content on next-generation platforms. All the more reason to upgrade, right?

While we don't have any specific details, it seems Rockstar is gearing up to continue support for GTA Online with new missions, modes, and maps for the PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC. Anything new will arrive in 2021 after the consoles are out in the wild and players have migrated over. This follows along with the current GTA Online, which eventually left PS3 and Xbox 360 development behind to embrace newer platforms.

We'll likely see a character migration system for these new ports in a similar way that it was handled from PS3 to PS4, etc. That would help tremendously when the free PS5 version of Online launches alongside the new console this holiday season. I can't imagine there isn't a person on this planet that doesn't already own Grand Theft Auto V, but I guess crazier things have happened.

I really don't know what else could come to GTA Online. The mode is already much bigger than its campaign portion and covers everything you could want. More is always better, I guess, but at some point, Grand Theft Auto VI has to happen.
