3D Realms has announced that its retro action RPG Graven is now available in early access on PC. Available via Steam, GOG, and the Epic Games Store for $24.99 (with a 10% launch week discount), players will be able to explore the first of three planned regions that the game will offer. This should encompass a few hours of content and give players an idea of what the final game will be like.

Frederik Schreiber, director of Graven and VP of 3D Realms, said in a press release, "For 3D Realms, Early Access has been instrumental in making sure we make the best possible games for fans of classic titles like Hexen. The reception to GRAVEN's demo at Steam Game Festival floored us, and now Early Access will bring even more depth to Cruxfirth."

I was given a small hands-off demo of the game last year and left mighty impressed. When a demo was made available during the Winter Steam Game Festival, I downloaded it without thinking and had a blast. There are definitely a few rough edges, but Graven accurately captures the sensation of games like Hexen and Heretic 2 without as many of the technical limitations.

The final version of Graven will release sometime in 2022 and will be heading to PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch. It will feature a single-player campaign, a four-player co-op mode, and even split-screen support for those that want to get some local action going. It's certainly looking to be a rather excellent dark fantasy RPG.
