Rockstar has revealed new details regarding The Cayo Perico Heist, labeling it GTA Online's biggest adventure ever.
A lot of you reading this will be peeved at Rockstar for refusing to reveal what's coming next in terms of a brand new game. Chances are most of you who are annoyed at the developer's reluctance to pull back the curtain haven't been playing GTA Online. The online element of GTA 5, which is effectively a game all by itself, continues to be built on and is more active than ever before.
In fact, GTA Online is about to get an update that Rockstar has labeled the biggest adventure yet. It's called the Cayo Perico Heist, as has been revealed in the trailer below. The update is so big that Rockstar has added a whole new island for it to take place on. An island owned by brand new character and Los Santos playboy, El Rubio. As you might have guessed since this is GTA, El Rubio didn't make his fortune by following the rules.
He did it by creating a drug empire, which is why the island of Cayo Perico is littered with art, gold, and, of course, drug money. Basically a smorgasbord of stuff you're going to want to try and steal from poor old El Rubio. The new trailer suggests the owner of the island spends most of his time partying well into the night, but that probably doesn't mean nicking his stuff and making a small fortune is going to come easy.
According to El Rubio himself, since his island is not part of Los Santos or the main land, anything goes. Honestly, having played GTA 5 for the better part of a decade, that appears to be the case everywhere. We guess the police won't be coming to help out anytime soon if we land ourselves in hot water with El Rubio, though. Someone in the trailer even claims to have seen him chasing supermodels while riding a panther.
GTA Online players will be able to download the Cayo Perico Heist update on Tuesday, December 15, 2020, absolutely free. That's less than a week to wait. Rockstar has also hinted that the heist will also lead to another big GTA Online addition, a new underground club back on the mainland called The Music Locker.
