An expanded edition of Grand Theft Auto V will be launching the PS5 later this year, adding the game's name to a short list of titles that have spanned across three generations of consoles. Not only that, but Rockstar plans on gifting GTA Online players who have PlayStation Plus a free $1 million per month from now until the game's launch on the PS5.

To earn your monthly gift of $1 million, all you have to do is log in to GTA Online. In order to encourage players to return to the game, Rockstar had been offering similar promotions in the past, although none as consistent as this one. Seeing as the PS5 is likely due out in November, players can earn up to $5 million by merely logging in over the next 5 months.

Considering how long it can take to make money in GTA Online, a free $5 million is nothing to scoff at. Even $1 million can take hours and hours of grinding, and many of the game's best vehicles and properties come with a pretty steep price tag. To further put this into perspective, you would need to spend about $80 in the real world to add $5 million to you GTA account.

If you somehow haven't played Grand Theft Auto V yet, the game will be free-to-play on the PS5 at launch. If you have played it, you'll likely be able to transfer your GTA Online progress to the next-gen console, similar to how you were able to do so from the Xbox 360 and PS3 to the Xbox One and PS4 all those years ago.

When the game does launch on the PS5, it promises to bring a handful of technical improvements and visual upgrades, likely making it the best version of the game to ever be on a console. There will also be GTA Online content released in the future that will be exclusive to the new consoles and PC.

Apparently, there is even going to be a standalone version of GTA Online eyeing a 2021 release that will remain exclusive to those on PS5 for 3 months. It's not clear what exactly this new edition will bring just yet, but our curiosity has certainly been piqued.

Although many of us might had been hoping for a Grand Theft Auto VI reveal during the PS5 event, it looks as if the game is still far from being announced. Nevertheless, the fifth game in the series looks like it's going to build on its impressive run as the best selling entertainment property of all time when it makes its PS5 debut later this year.
