GTA players have started memeing the remastered GTA Trilogy after seeing its distorted character models.

The style of the GTA Trilogy has been hit-or-miss since its initial reveal, with comparisons being made to Fortnite, action figures, and Mafia City ever since the initial reveal. Although that comparison was mostly in good spirit before the game's launch, players have discovered a plethora of issues with the remastered trilogy after playing it, including its incredibly weird character models.

GTA Trilogy players have been sharing examples of the character models going wrong across social media. Some key examples include CJ and the Grove Street gang bending and stretching when using bikes in GTA San Andreas, models having pieces of clothing removed from their original appearance, numbers being wrongly added to jerseys, and even characters looking completely different and smoothed over from how they were on the PS2.

Other reported issues include fingernails looking huge on hands, fingers being stretched out during cutscenes, characters going cross-eyed during cutscenes, and even some Grove Street residents turning into meme-worthy pyramid figures. Those are just some of the issues that are happening consistently too, with some players even reporting cases of character models completely bugging out and body parts flailing around like they were made of rubber.

Most of the reported issues seem to be present in GTA San Andreas currently, although distorted models have also been spotted in Vice City and GTA 3. It could simply be a case of more players starting with San Andreas and therefore seeing more issues from it, but it's worth noting that it seems to be the most glitchy right now.

It's not clear why the models are distorting as much as they are, but players have suggested that it could be due to the remastered Trilogy using AI upscaling to get all of its characters and environments looking like they do and that the developers simply haven't checked to see how all of the models react to the new rigs - take a look at how many issues there are with the new hand models, as an example.
