Players are reporting that the GTA Trilogy has such strong rain that it's making the games nearly unplayable.

It's been a pretty rocky launch for the GTA Trilogy this week, with a variety of issues that are getting in the way of players being able to enjoy the nostalgia. From the Hot Coffee data still being in the game files to character models being changed and distorted, there seems to be more issues with the trilogy than there are positives.

One such issue that's gone viral online is the rain. Twitter user GmanLives shared a video of footage of rainy weather in GTA 3, saying that it was the "worst looking rain I've ever seen in a video game". The Tweet quickly went viral, with over 19.7k likes at the time of writing, and plenty of disgruntled GTA fans in the replies.

Following that Tweet, many other GTA players shared footage of how bad the rain looks in the trilogy, and it's a consistent issue throughout all three games. The problem seems to come from the rain being too thick and heavy during the night, practically taking up the whole screen. Some players are reporting that the rain is also slowing down their framerate and making the game chug.

Some players have specualted that the rain looks so bad because it's a single model that is always following the player, making it look like there's a personal raincloud following your character. Others have looked back on the original reveal trailer for the Definitive Edition, pointing out how it looks a lot more natural in the shot with Claude driving in the rain.

It seems that the issues with rain are a bit more specific than just looking bad all of the time. Although the comments make it seem like rain is consistently awful throughout the trilogy, it's only bad when it rains during the night. Rain during the day looks nowhere as migraine-inducing, so it likely just needs to be toned down in specific weather conditions.
