Most gamers don’t associate hunger and video games unless they run out of snacks, but one game company is doing its part to help combat hunger worldwide; Youzu Interactive will be hosting multiple events dedicated to ending hunger as part of its GTArcadeHungerHeroes campaign with ShareTheMeal and the United Nations World Food Programme.

The campaign will have three events associated with it. The first event is called Creative Plating. From August 4th to August 18th, Participants can write down #GTArcadeHungerHeroes on a plate, then arrange a smiley face out of food on it. Then they can take a picture of the plate and post it, using the tag #GTArcadeHungerHeroes and mentioning the official GTArcade account. For every post, Youzu Interactive will donate a meal.

The second event is the Hunger Challenge. Participants can sign up for the challenge from August 5th to August 12th. Then, from August 12th to August 18th, challengers choose a game from the GTArcade platform and stream on Youtube or Twitch for as long as they can without eating. A stream has to last at least two hours to count towards the challenge and ends when the streamer eats. For safety reasons, streams are capped at eighteen hours and players are encouraged to stay hydrated. Players also have to take a 15 minute break at the 6th hour of the stream. At the end of the challenge, Youzu will donate based on the total number of hours that streamers play for.

Players will also be able to participate in the Hunger Terminator event. For a limited time, players will be able to collect limited event items in the GTArcade games Era of Celestials, League of Angels III, Rangers of Oblivion, and Legacy of Discord. They will be able to exchange the items for in-game rewards and Youzu Interactive will donate based on how many items are earned by players.

World hunger is a serious issue, and it’s nice to see a company like Youzu interactive doing something about it. If you want to help out, but can’t participate in any of the events, GTArcade even includes a link to donate to the World Food Programme directly.
