Guardians of the Galaxy has at least one pretty neat tip of the hat to Deus Ex, showing the well-loved series is very much still on the minds of those at Eidos-Montreal.

Some of you might roll your eyes when a new Marvel movie, TV show, or video game dominates headlines. However, as the movie of the same name did in 2014, Guardians of the Galaxy is leaving people pleasantly surprised. You'll be hard-pushed to find anyone with a bad word to say about the game, and it seems Square Enix has won back the favor of Marvel fans the world over.

In fairness, Square probably has Eidos-Montreal to thank for that. The studio has done a terrific job of developing Guardians, one that goes beyond the surface alone. Almost a week in and its players continue to find a number of neat easter eggs, because it really wouldn't be a product under the Marvel umbrella if it didn't have a plethora of them.

That's not to say all of Guardians' easter eggs are Marvel-related. In fact, one very cool hidden detail discovered over the weekend is a nod to Deus Ex. While aboard the Milano, there's a moment between chapters where a showered Star-Lord looks in the bathroom mirror and wipes away the condensation, a thoughtful look on his face.

It's possible some players won't have seen this during their Guardians' playthrough. It's even more possible that those who have seen it won't have known the game's devs were paying homage to what might well be their most-loved series. As highlighted by Haruspis in the tweet above, the clip is identical to one including Adam Jensen in Deus Ex.

Eidos actually referenced Deus Ex during the build to Guardians' launch, revealing its new game has twice as much dialogue than the former. That's quite the feat, but makes a lot of sense when you hear how much the Guardians speak to each other throughout the game. The Deus Ex series has been lying dormant ever since sales of its last instalment were less than flattering. That Eidos continues to reference it in new games is a promising sign that it hasn't been firmly left in the past.
