Their History And Current Leader

Even before Cantha split off from the rest of the world, the Jade Brotherhood was alive and well. It was always a criminal organization, and it was one which players encountered if they played Guild Wars Factions. At the time, though, their rivals were a group known as the Am Fah that no longer exists. In fact, the Jade Brotherhood also petered out over the years.

It was revived by a man named Park Chul-Moo. Chul-Moo co-founded Xunlai Jade, Yu Joon's dragonjade company that powers Cantha. However, Chul-Moo and Joon began to butt heads when Chul-Moo began suggesting unethical experiments and business practices. Chul-Moo eventually left Xunlai Jade and founded the Jade Brotherhood, borrowing the name from the old gang (despite Chul-Moo having little to no affiliation with it).

Their Teachings And Doctrine

The Jade Brotherhood gang takes after their leader, Park Chul-Moo. They're a tech-savvy group, interested in exploring how far jade technology can take them even if the experiments aren't exactly safe or ethical.

They oppose Yu Joon's dragonjade company, Xunlai Jade, and often steal its shipments when they pass through the Echovald Wilds. Whatever the Jade Brotherhood steals is used in their gang war with the Speakers or is haphazardly built into tech and then resold to middle- or lower-class families who can't afford the official Xunlai Jade technology.

Some Jade Brotherhood members are recruited from Xunlai Jade employees, while others are picked up off the streets if they have a knack for tech.

Their War With The Speakers

The Jade Brotherhood wound up in a gang war with the Speakers because they set up a base in the Echovald Wilds. Echovald is a great place to hide from the law, so the Speakers were already there when the Brotherhood showed up. The Brotherhood had an interest in the area because it gave them lots of opportunities to intercept Xunlai Jade shipments headed for New Kaineng City. However, the Speakers didn't like having someone else on their turf — and are especially opposed to jade technology.
