OpTic Gaming owner Hector “H3CZ” Rodriguez has confirmed that the upcoming Call of Duty League season will be played online, as opposed to an NBA-style “bubble.” Teams will be required to have all players competing from the same facility while the matches take place online.

Many fans had been left wondering how the upcoming Call of Duty League season would play out, as the previous one took place primarily online due to COVID-19. Some insiders, including H3CZ and OpTic competitor Seth “Scump” Abner, had discussed the possibility of the league transitioning to a “bubble,” similar to the NBA. This would allow games to take place on LAN while protecting players as well as team and event staff.

In a recent round table discussion video released on OpTic Chicago’s YouTube channel, H3CZ confirms that this won’t be happening. Joined by Scump, Dylan “Envoy” Hannon, and Davis “Hitch” Edwards, H3CZ states that it’s “guaranteed” there will be no bubble.

“There’s not going to be a bubble,” H3CZ says, “guaranteed. It just wouldn’t make sense.” The OpTic owner says the league will be playing online “until the world comes back to some resemblance of normalcy.” He then explains the potential play system for 2021, which will require all teams to have each of their players competing from the same facility.

This system has not been confirmed by the Call of Duty League, which looks to start its second season in early 2021.
