There's no denying that the Halo: The Master Chief Collection has been extremely popular. Finally, a storied franchise that was previously limited to just the Xbox consoles gets a PC release with beautifully remastered games supporting ultra-widescreen, uncapped framerates, and mouse and keyboard. What’s not to love?

Well, sadly, it’s Halo 5. Apparently, 343 Industries just didn’t care to port the 2015 Halo game to PC.

After confirming that Halo 4 would be getting a demo for Halo Insiders, the latest blog update also confirmed that it would be the last game to be added to the Master Chief Collection. "Sorry to crush your Halo 5 in MCC dreams," they added as a final farewell.

To be fair, Halo 5 is still new enough that a remaster really doesn’t make a whole lot of sense. Microsoft and 343 Industries will get more bang for their nostalgic buck if they were to wait a few years for fans to start demanding that The Master Chief Collection be completed with Halo 5 and then wait another decade before remastering Halo Infinite (which hasn’t even been released yet).

Plus, Halo 5 is more of a multiplayer-oriented game and there’s doubt that it’d get enough of an audience on Steam to support it. But hey, maybe one day.
