Halo: Infinite is a long-awaited game, since it has now been almost six years since the last main Halo game. While a lot of what we know about Infinite is primarily focused on the gameplay, one thing that has fans curious about the game is the characters we will be seeing in the game.

With all of the games, books, and other outlets that have expanded the Halo universe, there are a number of characters that should appear in the games, be it for narrative reasons or for fan service. While there are plenty of characters that could be included, here are some characters that many players would be delighted to see.

10 Sarah Palmer

One of many Spartans to grace the Halo universe is Sarah Palmer, the commander of the Spartan IVs on the large ship known as the Infinity.

While she may not be too popular, Infinite could really help expand her character more. With the game taking a more open-world approach to its gameplay, Palmer could serve as a mission giver as well as a person to talk to.

9 Captain James Cutter

First introduced in Halo Wars, the captain of the UNSC Spirit of Fire returned in the sequel where he was the main line of defense against the Banished on the Ark.

While he and his crew suffered a high number of losses from both the Banished and a reemergence of the dreaded parasite known as the Flood, he lived to fight another day. Perhaps he pursued the Banished to Zeta Halo, Infinite's setting, to try and stop them. He could serve as support for the Master Chief and a good way of tying into Halo Wars 2.

8 Isabel

Another way Infinite could connect to Halo Wars 2 is with its major A.I. character, Isabel. Despite her young age for an A.I. she proved to be a huge asset to the crew of the Spirit of Fire and could do the same for the Master Chief, since Cortana won't be around after her heel turn in Halo 5.

Granted, she will never be able to replace Cortana, but Infinite could serve as a good way to separate Isabel from Cortana by developing Isabel's personality in a way that keeps her from feeling like a cheap knock-off.

7 Captain John Lasky

Perhaps other than Cortana and Sergeant Johnson, the only other character that the Master Chief has been able to confide in is Captain John Lasky of the Infinity. This was seen as he tried to comfort Chief after Cortana's supposed death at the end of Halo 4.

After Cortana unleashed the Guardians at the end of Halo 5, he was last seen aboard the Infinity as it was constantly traveling through slipspace to avoid them. Like with Palmer, he could serve as both a mission giver and a person to talk to in order to get to know him a bit better.

6 Professor Ellen Anders

Another Halo Wars character that returned for the sequel, Professor Anders helped the Spirit of Fire with the Ark's technology and with finding a way to contact the rest of the UNSC.

She was last seen stuck aboard a Halo installation that was abruptly brought out of slipspace by a Guardian construct. Her fate is unknown right now and Halo Infinite would be a good vehicle for disclosing what happened to her.

5 Spartan Locke

Whether you love him or you hate him, Spartan Locke was a major part of Halo 5's campaign and is sure to be a key player in years to come.

Infinite could serve as a way for him to get redeemed in the eyes of the Halo community since it has the chance to develop him better and ensure he is just not a more boring Master Chief knock-off.

4 The Rest Of Blue Team

Master Chief's time in Halo 5 was not spent alone. In that game's story, he also had three of his old comrades join him in tracking down Cortana: Frederic-104, Linda-058, and Kelly-087.

These were characters that were originally introduced in the Halo books, and the fact they were willing to go AWOL with Chief shows just how loyal they are to them. Like Chief, they know the scope of what is to come and should be included in Infinite to help him out once again.

3 Atriox

Atriox is the leader of the Covenant splinter faction known as the Banished, which mainly consists of the ape-like brutes. With the Banished already confirmed to be the game's main enemy faction, Atriox is bound to turn up at some point.

Halo Wars 2 established him as a force to be reckoned with. Infinite could also develop him more and fix the issue of newer Halo games having some rather lackluster villains.

2 Arbiter

Arbiter prepares to go into battle in Halo 2 Anniversary

Though they may not admit, Arbiter is the perfect brother in arms to the Master Chief and returned as the leader of the elites in Halo 5. Not only would seeing him again be good fan service but it would make sense from a narrative standpoint as well.

With the Guardians threatening all life in the galaxy, including the Elites, he will have to do something about it. Aiding Chief in Infinite would be a good way of helping his people. Even if he is not there alongside him, Arbiter's presence would be good support for the Chief.

1 Cortana

Cortana tries to convince Master Chief (left) to join her after reuniting in Halo 5

After miraculously being brought back to life in Halo 5, Cortana has decided to unleash the Guardians to bring galactic peace at the cost of the deaths of millions. She attempted to get Chief to join her but he refused, telling her that there was a better way.

Cortana cannot be ignored in Infinite lest there be huge fan backlash. Not only that, but her exclusion would also mean that Halo Infinite's story would have no legitimate weight since Cortana is just as important to the series as Chief himself.
