Former Bungie creative director and co-creator of the Halo universe Marcus Lehto has announced a new sci-fi first-person shooter game called Disintegration.

The game's teaser trailer, which runs for just 45 seconds, is fairly vague in nature. However we should know a lot more about the title when it is the subject of a full reveal next month.

Disintegration is being developed by V1 Interactive, an independent studio founded by Lehto after he left Bungie. The YouTube teaser only shows a well-armed ship from different camera angles and is more or less a way of letting gamers know that they should pay some attention to the unveiling in August.

"The opportunity to create not only a new game, but this entire studio has been exhilarating,” Lehto, now V1 president and Disintegration director, said in a press release. “It is great to be able to share what this amazing team has been working on, and we can’t wait to introduce this new game that our team is building to the world next month."

“We’re lucky enough to work with someone like Marcus, a gaming icon whose creativity has influenced an entire industry,” said Executive Vice President and Head of Private Division Michael Worosz.

“We’ve been with Marcus and the V1 Interactive team since the studio’s inception and have seen the organization grow its talent base throughout our partnership. As such, we have high confidence in Disintegration, and cannot wait to introduce it as another unique experience that further enhances the Private Division lineup.”

Disintegration will be fully revealed at Gamescom Opening Night Live on August 19. The event, hosted by game journalist and TV presenter Geoff Keighley, will be held from August 20th to August 24th in Cologne, Germany.

The game will be published by Take-Two's Private Division, which focuses on independent titles. Disintegration will become available sometime in 2020.

Lehto, meanwhile, was employed at Bungie for 15 years. He was the art director for Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 2 and Halo 3. He also worked as the creative director for Halo: Reach.

He formed V1 Interactive in 2014 after his departure from Bungie. As evidenced by Disintegration, Lehto has been working on original titles every since.
