Sometimes it's all but avoidable. What appears to be the opening cinematic of Halo Infinite has been leaked. An almost two minute video has been found on Reddit and it definitely looks legit.

It's unfortunate that someone has gone ahead and leaked this footage with only over half a month left for the launch of Halo Infinite's campaign. The voice-over and the audio commentary of the supposed leaker appear to be in German. The footage could also have been streamed, as the leaker is present in a window to the top-right, and has obscured their face using an image of a car's rear wing, otherwise known as a spoiler.

Fortunately for 343 Industries, the leaked video doesn't reveal too much about the campaign that we don't already know or could have speculated. No major plot points or twists have been revealed, so it's not that big a blow for the devs. Still though, leaks are understandably very frustrating for devs.

What we do know about the game for sure is that the developers don't like calling it an open-world game. Associate creative director, Paul Crocker said that the team "tend not to talk about it using 'open-world' as a term." He said, "open-world is this genre now where it comes with these different expectations and we wanted to ground everything in making the best Halo experience we could. So what that meant was we created our story that pulls you through. It’s a mystery story that pulls you through with a bunch of questions that are started at the beginning of the game and are answered by the end."

Of course, this leak will change nothing about the game's launch, which is expected to be huge. While it will also be launching on Game Pass, those who don't have a subscription will be able to purchase it for £54.99. The interesting thing about this price-point is that despite probably being Microsoft's biggest launch of the year, it's almost 25% cheaper than what next-gen first-party PS5 games are available for, £70.

Whether this is a pricing strategy or just what Microsoft thinks its games are worth, that's a big price gap between the two.
