Halo Infinite players have been using the new Grappleshot for the first time and turns out it allows you to basically become Spider-Man if you use it well enough.

Halo Infinite's full launch is now only a little more than two months away, and some lucky players had the chance to be a part of the game's second technical test over the weekend. Halo Insiders played 4v4 Arena during the most recent technical preview, competing against each other during pre-determined matchmaking windows so that 343 could test Infinite's servers.

The good news coming out of the weekend is the servers appeared to hold up. The better news is Infinite's Grappleshot allows you to swing around its multiplayer maps like Spider-Man. YouTuber Mint Blitz can be seen using the weapon in the video below to great effect, even picking off an enemy in mid-air before nailing the superhero landing after their final swing.

Blitz isn't the only one who has been getting to grips with the Grappleshot and turning out impressive results. Fellow YouTuber Wernissage posted a similar video over the weekend. That prompted LuminousCactuz to take that in-game footage and put some Spider-Man PS4 music over the top of it. It fits all too well as the Spartan swings around the map, though the gun that shares the screen with you is a constant reminder that you're not really Spider-Man on an Xbox.

343 first showed off that Grappleshot when Infinite was first showcased all the way back in 2020. While the weapon will apparently have its range scaled for use in Big Team Battle, which will be tested for the first time this weekend, there has still been no additional footage showing its use in Inifinite's campaign. As well as using it to swing around like Spidey, the Grappleshot can also be used to pull yourself towards enemies to deliver what could be a winning blow. Kind of like Mortal Kombat's Scorpion but in reverse.

Halo Insiders will get another chance to play Infinite this coming weekend, this time with both 4v4 Arenas and Big Team Battle to choose from. The same matchmaking windows will apply next weekend as the ones that took place this past weekend, minus the one scheduled for later today. If you're not an Insider, Infinite is launching on Xbox Series X|S on December 8, 2021, although some of its features, such as the co-op campaign, will not be added until 2022.
