343 Industries has confirmed that a Slayer playlist will be coming to Halo Infinite's multiplayer mode as part of the December 14 update. The highly anticipated Slayer playlist will be added to the game, along with playlists for Fiesta, FFA, and Tactical Slayer (SWAT). The news was shared by 343 community director, Brian Jarrard, via a post on the Halo Subreddit.
"As I noted last week, the team's original plans for a Slayer playlist included a variety of new variants that weren't going to be ready in time to deploy before the holiday break," explained Jarrard. "To address player feedback for Slayer in the near term, we'll be releasing a basic Slayer offering to start and will look to bolster and expand with more variants in a future update."
He also noted the adjustments that will be made to challenges, including "removing some particularly frustrating mode-specific ones, reducing some requirements for others, making the weekly ultimate challenge less intensive (getting there is tough enough), and adding brand new challenges specific to the new playlists."
He ended his post with a note explaining that the development team is aware of the issues some players have been facing in the game's Big Team Battle mode. They are actively investigating these reports and are also reviewing Ranked matchmaking, as well as other player feedback. We'll be getting more details on these adjustments in next week's Halo Waypoint.
While we're enjoying the recently dropped campaign for Halo: Infinite, it looks like the developers have already broken ground on an upcoming story DLC. Microsoft has filed a trademark for 'Halo: The Endless'. While there isn't much information on what this will be, the campaign often references a new species that's "worse than the Flood". This species or entity doesn't show up throughout the campaign, leading us to speculate that they are 'The Endless', and will probably make an appearance in an upcoming DLC.
Unfortunately, there isn't much we can do to verify these theories as of yet. The Endless could easily end up being something totally different, but the "goods and services" section lists it as "downloadable game software", lending credence to the DLC theory.
