Use Your Radar

Using your Radar to Surprise Enemies in Halo Infinite

The best strategic resource you have in Halo Infinite is your radar. While you play, you should look at this radar frequently, especially on smaller maps. This radar lets you know where nearby enemies are, which gives you a huge leg up.

Knowing where your opponents are coming from gives you a critical chance to fire first and potentially even surprise them. Your radar is your secret weapon, and if you combine it with clever thinking, you will become a force to reckon with on the battlefield.

Try Out Different Weapons

Weapons Locker in Halo Infinite

There are loads of different weapons and far too many to concisely squeeze them into this guide. All you need to know when you start is that your assault rifle is a decent weapon in most situations except for long-distance shots. Your sidearm might be a better choice in a pinch, but it shouldn’t be your weapon of choice for sniping. You can find way better weapons sitting around the map, and you can pick any of them up.

Human weapons are typically pretty straightforward in their concepts, as sniper rifles function like most sniper rifles. Alien weapons, on the other hand, will work like special weapons and have their unique quirks. Some guns have more of a learning curve than others, so take your time learning how to use each one.

If there are some weapons you loathe, don’t feel bad about ignoring them, there’s plenty of fish in the sea.

Use Your Bash/Melee Button

Bashing opponents in Halo Infinite

Longtime Halo fans will know just how critical the Bash Button is. Quite frequently, particularly on small maps, you will get very close to your opponents. While you can do quite a bit of damage with your guns when your opponent is nearby, a quick bash will do an incredible amount of damage.

Your bash attack is powerful, but bashing someone who has full shields won’t kill them. Therefore, it is best to weaken your opponent’s armor with your guns and then punch them. This combination will quickly kill your opponent and give you the edge you need to win in close firefights.

Keep On Moving And Head Towards The Objective

Heading towards your objective in Halo Infinite

Halo works like a lot of old-school shooters where constant movement is key to survival. There are very few moments where you stand perfectly still. You want to keep moving because it makes you a trickier target to hit. On top of that, you will also be chasing down your objective in whatever game mode you play.

For example, if you are playing capture the flag, you should always be heading toward your enemy’s flag or heading over to defend your flag. Likewise, in Big Team battle, you will want to head over to the opposite corner of the map to rack up some kills.

The one strategy that does not help is camping, because the action is constantly moving around the map.

Learn How To Use Various Equipment

Drop Shield in Halo Infinite

One of the newer gameplay changes in Halo Infinite is how the equipment works. Equipment now functions as a pickup item you can find around the map. Your equipment has a limited amount of uses, so you can’t pick up a grappling hook band then use it an unlimited amount of times.

There is a wide variety of equipment you can find, from drop shields, active camo, threat sensors, repulsors, thrusters, overshields, and the grappleshot. Each piece of equipment has its own set of benefits, and the best way to learn how to use them is to try them out. Learning how to use equipment is paramount to your success in Halo Infinite.

Use Your Ping And Scan Buttons

Something new to the Halo series is the addition of Ping and Scan buttons. On an Xbox controller, these buttons are on the d-pad. Up is your ping button and down is your scan button. Ping buttons have become quintessential and are helpful for quick communication with your team.

Halo Infinite’s ping system is a quick and dirty way of alerting your teammates to objects or enemies on the battlefield. Your scan button will highlight nearby weapon racks, equipment, and teammates. This scan can be helpful for new players struggling to spot these things and those who are unfamiliar with the map.

Hello, Goodbye With Your Grenades

Sticking a grenade in Halo Infinite

A common Halo strategy is to throw grenades before or after you engage in combat. The reason you would want to do this is that grenades can deal a significant amount of damage. Having grenades explode near your enemies can give you that extra bit of damage you need to kill them.

Or maybe things are not looking so good for you, and you want to help your teammates by dealing a lot of damage to the opposing team before you die. Either way, grenades are a super helpful tool, and you should not be afraid to use them as frequently as you can.
