Xbox has released a new dynamic theme to celebrate the announcement of Halo Infinite's launch date, and it's free.

Xbox's showcase this past Tuesday felt a little lacking. Why that was became very clear 24 hours later during Gamescom's Opening Night Live. Microsoft had been waiting for that event to drop all the juicy stuff, most notably a lot of new information about Halo Infinite. Finally, confirmation that the next chapter in the Halo series really will be here before the end of 2021.

To celebrate the announcement that Infinite will launch on December 8, albeit without a co-op campaign and Forge, Xbox has released a Halo dynamic theme. The theme, which you can check out below, is based on Infinite's cover art and can be downloaded for free on the Xbox Series X|S. Just go to settings, personalization, my background, and then dynamic backgrounds.

By the time Infinite arrives in a few months time, fans of the series will be able to theme their entire Halo experience around the game. Not only through the game and its new dynamic theme, but also some hardware that was first revealed during Opening Night Live. A Master Chief-inspired Series X controller, and a rather special Halo-themed Series X console.

The console is already available for pre-order but if you didn't grab one as soon as they went on sale then you may have missed your chance for now. The consoles sold out almost instantly and if you want one, you're going to have to pay through the nose for it. Some have already been listed on resale sites and are selling for thousands of dollars. One was going for more than $5000 earlier this week, but that listing appears to have been removed.

The hype for Infinite is really starting to ramp up, and understandably so. Not only is this the longest Halo fans have ever had to wait between games, but more than a year will have passed since its original launch date when it finally arrives in December. The game might not be complete until 2022, but that will give you something to look forward to and more time to play the modes that will be included on December 8.
