Before delving into these matchups, let's provide some background on Master Chief. The Halo: Fall of Reach novel revealed Master Chief's forename to be "John." He was trained from an early age to become a cybernetic and biochemical supersoldier. This video game icon has an armory of weapons at his disposal, including a Spartan Laser, Energy Sword, Sniper Rifle, Needler, and a Rocket Launcher. Master Chief might also drive vehicles like the Wraith, Scorpion Tank, Banshee, or Mantis.

With all his firepower, even Master Chief is not immune to the effects of video game bosses. It's clear Master Chief can be damaged, or even die, from a Grunt or other lesser Covenants. For the sake of doing something totally awesome, let's get into it.

10 The Nameless King (Can't)

The Nameless King brandishes his sword in Dark Souls 3

Considered to be one of the hardest bosses in the history of video games, The Nameless King appears as the final boss in Dark Souls 3. In the first phase of the fight, he appears as "King of the Storm," where he is riding a wyvern (legendary dragon). During the second phase, you face The Nameless King head-on.

Master Chief would most likely survive the first phase of the fight, even if he narrowly beats the wyvern. The Nameless King can be compared to fighting Warden Eternal, except more powerful. The Nameless King can summon electricity around the fighting ring and attack with impunity. It depends on if Master Chief has a Spartan Laser or Scorpion Tank. With an Assault Rifle, Pistol, and Plasma Grenades, he would lose this fight.

9 Mike Tyson (Can Destroy)

Before you dismiss this matchup and call it absurd, know that Mike Tyson is considered one of the fiercest boss battles in video games. Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!! was a game that released for the Nintendo Entertainment System way back in the '80s.

Assuming that Master Chief had to adhere to boxing's rules, this fight wouldn't be over so fast. Master Chief would need to K.O. Mike Tyson because Mike Tyson would have better finesse in the ring. Inevitably, Master Chief would mop the floor with Mike Tyson and win this fight.

8 Sephiroth (Can't)

"Sephiroth's strength is unreal. He is far stronger in reality than any story you might have heard about him." The final boss of Final Fantasy VII is the final boss for more than one reason. Formerly a SOLDIER, Sephiroth displayed excellence as an elite fighting member. Until he became twisted, Sephiroth was considered a war hero.

Master Chief would lose this fight, given that he hasn't encountered anything like Sephiroth in the past. Only Cloud and allies could narrowly beat this monster. Players don't know the extent of his power, but he is the strongest swordsman in history. His Masamune katana sword is longer than his height. Sephiroth's supernova would obliterate Master Chief into small particles of matter.

7 Nemesis (Can Destroy)

"Listen, he's coming for us, we're both gonna die! You'll see! He's after S.T.A.R.S members! There's no escape!" Although he's one of the most horrific villains in gaming, his powers are not a reflection.

Given that Jill was able to defeat Nemesis by using a rail cannon in Resident Evil 3, Master Chief (who has a bigger arsenal of weapons) would annihilate Nemesis. Nemesis can withstand many bullets, but it is not invincible. Master Chief would not detonate a Halo ring, as it would mean the end of the galaxy, but he would go to extreme lengths to destroy this abomination.

6 Darth Vader (Can't)

"You would be wise to surrender." Appearing as the final boss in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, Darth Vader is described as the most powerful Sith in the galaxy. Since the plot revolves around defeating Sith Inquisitor Trilla Suduri up until this fight, it's humbling to encounter Darth Vader as Cal Kestis.

Master Chief would not survive this encounter since Darth Vader would relentlessly deflect all his attacks, and strike him down with a lightsaber. Master Chief's armor would not withstand a lightsaber, nor could any vehicle Master Chief controls inflict any damage. His only chance at survival would be to run.

5 Death Egg Robot (Can Destroy)

Wow, video game bosses have come a long way since Sonic the Hedgehog 2's Death Egg Robot bewildered players. Video game bosses are now more dynamic and have layers of difficulty. Video game designers are continually coming up with new ideas for impossible to beat bosses.

Master Chief would win this fight. The Death Egg Robot is modeled after and controlled by Dr. Robotnik. Master Chief would have no issue using futuristic technology to take down this opponent. If a hedgehog can defeat the Death Egg Robot, so can Master Chief.

4 Darth Malak (Can't)

"Wipe this pathetic planet from the face of the galaxy." As someone who has the power to destroy entire planets (like Taris), Master Chief would have a tough time combating this Dark Side of the Force user. Like Darth Vader, Darth Malak would deflect any and every attack with the Force or his lightsaber.

Imagine Master Chief entered the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic universe. Master Chief could take down Sith Inquisitors, but he does not stand a chance against a Sith Lord. Moves like Force Scream and Force Lightning would be too much for the chief.

3 Bowser (Can Destroy)

Mario, a humble Italian plumber, has defeated Bowser numerous times over the years because of his willpower and acrobatics. Bowser is easily outmaneuvered by his opponents, which is why he's lost against Mario all these years.

Master Chief is too fast for Bowser. Bowser usually chooses locations over lava or high altitude places to fight opponents. Master Chief would knock Bowser off the level, or he would obliterate him with his arsenal of weapons.

2 Trainer Red (Can't)

Trainer Red is a recurring character throughout video games. He has appeared in games such as Pokémon Gold and Silver, Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee!, and as a playable character in Super Smash Bros.

Trainer Red has exceedingly high level Pokémon and is one of the most powerful Pokémon trainers. His Pokémon include Pikachu, Machamp, Arcanine, Lapras, Snorlax, Venusaur, Blastoise, and Espeon. Sent one at a time, Master Chief might stand a chance. Trainer Red's entire lineup at once, however, would overpower Master Chief.

1 General Raam (Can Destroy)

The final matchup has to be General Raam versus Master Chief. As two of Xbox's biggest gaming franchises, Gears of War and Halo deserve this crossover.

Albeit, General Raam commands a sizeable army of Locusts, they are about as powerful as The Flood. General Raam can withstand many bullets, but he can be defeated by them. Raam would send flocks of Kryll at Master Chief, which might damage his shield. General Raam could use his turret to finish Master Chief. Players have to give this one to Master Chief since the hero usually succeeds in circumventing the villain.
