With Halo: Reach's final PC beta underway, the system requirements for the game have been unveiled and the hardware needed to run Reach is pretty low end. Getting 4K playback won't require more than an Nvidia GeForce 7 series card, which can be found for about $50 nowadays. Even the CPU requirement for high-quality graphics is a measly third-generation Core i5 processor.

In the chart below, you can see that getting the game up and running won't require that beefy of a PC. Minimum playback for 1080p is also quite low, requiring hardware from multiple generations ago. Since Halo: Reach was originally an Xbox 360 title, this does make sense. Microsoft's last-generation box had become incredibly outdated by the time Reach released, so it only stands to reason that the PC port wouldn't demand high-end equipment.

This will be a blessing to many. While nabbing an Xbox One to play Halo: Reach is fairly low cost, a lot of players have been dying to get the series on PC. Despite ports of a few entries in the past, Reach is the most revered of the series and fans have been clamoring for a chance to play it with a mouse and keyboard. Seeing that the requirements are so low means people with 10-year-old rigs can jump in without even thinking about it.

It's also nice to know that Reach will support cross-play between Windows Store and Steam versions. Cross-play between Xbox One and PC won't launch with MCC on PC, but 343 is looking at implementing it later. At least owners of Halo: The Master Chief Collection on Xbox One will be able to utilize cross-saving to resume their progress across both platforms. Mid-level saving won't be possible due to how each platform renders the game.

There's still no release date for Reach on PC, but 343 Industries maintains it will be coming in 2019. It wouldn't be surprising to see the port end up as an early 2020 release, but apparently this latest beta is running without a hitch. Maybe a December shadow drop will happen? We'll just have to wait and see what 343 is planning.
