For years now, fans have waited patiently for a new Harry Potter video game. The titles that EA released throughout the 2000s were entertaining enough and the LEGO games were definitely enjoyable, if slightly too tailored for children. However, recent rumors and speculation have suggested we’ll be getting a new title for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X - which has sparked plenty of excitement on social media.

We’ll now take a look at 10 weird locations from the Harry Potter universe that fans would love to visit in the game.

10 The Room of Requirement

The Room of Requirement does exactly what it says on the tin. If you need the room to become a sanctuary, for example, it will provide you with beds and hammocks. If you need to hide something, it will become a place filled with clutter to ensure it’s never found. And if you need to teach an illegal group named Dumbledore’s Army, it will become the ideal place for you to practice.

So imagine that in a video game. It could change depending on what your player wants and needs and would be fascinating to discover and explore. Especially if it’s just as hard to come across as it is in the source material.

9 Hagrid’s Hut

In the older Harry Potter games, you could make your way down the Hogwarts fields towards Hagrid’s Hut. However, the odd mission aside, you were never allowed entry.

But imagine if you could go there? Given how weird Hagrid is, you could stumble across all kinds of stuff. A dragon egg perhaps or an assortment of bizarre creatures that he’d likely try and tame. Just to satisfy the curiosity of our childhood, Hagrid’s hut makes the list.

8 The Ravenclaw Common Room

In the Deathly Hallows book, Harry enters the Ravenclaw Common Room with Luna Lovegood intent on tracking down Rowena Ravenclaw’s lost diadem. Once there, he ends up cursing Amycus Carrow after the Death Eater had disgustingly spat in the face of Minerva McGonagall. Unfortunately, this same scene didn’t make it into the Part 2 movie.

So, given the fact we didn’t get to see the setting on the big screen, it would be cool to go there in the game. It’s described as a ‘wide, circular room with graceful arched windows that punctuate the walls which were hung with blue and bronze silks and a midnight blue carpet covered in stars, which is reflected onto the domed ceiling.’

7 The Hufflepuff Common Room

Hufflepuff’s Common Room is the only one of its kind that Harry doesn’t visit, either in the source material, the movies or the games of old. And it’s for that reason that the setting occupies a slot on this list.

It’s meant to be a cozy place with a wooden floor, ivies that hang from the ceilings and tickle your head as you walk under them, and with a beautiful portrait of Helga Hufflepuff on its walls. JK Rowling said of it: “When I first planned the series, I expected Harry to visit all four house common rooms during his time at Hogwarts. There came a point when I realized that there was never going to be a valid reason to enter the Hufflepuff room. Nevertheless, it is quite as real to me as the other three, and I always knew exactly where those Hufflepuffs were going when they headed off towards the kitchens after lessons.”

6 The Forbidden Forest

On his very first day at Hogwarts, Harry is told that the Forbidden Forest is strictly out of bounds. So, naturally, he ends up going there on multiple occasions throughout his time at the wizarding school. Some with permission, most without.

And it’s another place we’d like to roam. We imagine it could be filled with dangerous creatures, dark wizards, and untamed Centaurs all ready to attack you. Despite that, however, we’d still fancy our chances with a good wand by our side…

5 The Department Of Mysteries

Given it’s a game, not a single location from the Harry Potter universe can be ruled out. And, if we were heading up the developer's team, we’d definitely set at least one mission inside the Ministry of Magic - and the Department of Mysteries in particular.

There’s so much we don’t know about the place and that intrigue could be used to craft a compelling and entertaining story. It would also fill a void of knowledge that fans are eager to obtain. Whether that happens, though, remains to be seen.

4 The Shrieking Shack

The Shrieking Shack is a mysterious place for many people. Having heard howls and screams there many believe it to be haunted. What they don’t know, however, is that it was actually Remus Lupin making those scary noises - due to the fact he’d transform into a werewolf at the full moon.

So why does it make this list? Well, we’d love to use the shortcut between the place and Hogwarts, rather than traveling to Hogsmeade through easier means. After all, Harry was always a rebel so there’s no reason your playable character should be any different.

3 The Hogs Head

While we’re on the subject of Hogsmeade, it’s time to talk about The Hog’s Head. While most sane wizards and witches like to enjoy a beverage at the cozy Three Broomsticks, the rougher sorts like to hang out in the grubby little pub managed by Aberforth Dumbledore, brother of Albus.

Imagine the life you would see in there? If you think your local bar can be a bit dodgy at times, it’s nothing compared to this place. It would be fascinating just to observe although, if you did that, we can’t see the punters taking too kindly to it. Challenge accepted…

2 The Chamber Of Secrets

The Chamber of Secrets is one of the most mysterious places in the whole Harry Potter universe. For many years considered a myth, it’s the place where the deadly Basilisk lurks beneath the surface, waiting for its master to set it loose.

So, naturally, we’d love to check it out. It’s appeared in Potter games of the past but, with shiny new graphics and some things to do, it’s got the potential to interest even the most casual of fans.

1 The Lake

Grand Theft Auto is a game that showed how underwater can be done right. In that title, players were able to explore all of what Los Santos’ sea had to offer and it often led to some nice surprises along the way.

Given it’s the home to a giant squid, and merpeople, Harry Potter fans would love to see what mysterious things lie in its depths. Whether we get that chance, however, remains to be seen.
