Natsume debuted the first official gameplay trailer for Harvest Moon: One World earlier today, revealing the biggest game in series history.

Harvest Moon: One World is scheduled to release for Switch and PS4 on March 2, and this gameplay trailer does a great job highlighting all the farming shenanigans you can get into next year. Of course, the usual assortment of Harvest Moon features are returning – romance-able characters, fixing up your farm, raising animals – but you'll also be able to do a lot more adventuring this time around.

"Take a trip around the world in the latest entry in the long-running Harvest Moon series! You'll ride camels across the deserts of Pastilla, venture deep into the snowy mountains of Salmiakki, and even visit a volcano near the cozy mountain town of Lebkuchen," said Natsume. The trailer shows off a lot of this new content, and you can check it out below:

Natsume also revealed some key features of the game. These include:

  • 5 unique areas, including beaches, deserts, and snowy mountains.
  • Option to "woo" one of 5 bachelors and 5 bachelorettes, each with their own backstory and personality.
  • Raise exotic animals (such as reindeer) along with the usual assortment of goats, sheep, and cows.
  • Take advantage of your "Expando-Farm" to quickly travel between areas.

If you've played any of the recent Harvest Moon games, you'll know what to expect with One World. It looks pretty similar to Light of Hope, which released on various platforms over the past few years. That title earned mixed reviews from critics, with most claiming that it stayed true to the heart of Harvest Moon but didn't do much to innovate or keep players interested in the long haul.

One World is definitely keeping with Harvest Moon tradition – farming and romance are front and center – but it'll be interesting to see if the new focus on exploration pays off. If One World doesn't look like your cup of tea, you can always check out Story of Seasons. The tale behind Harvest Moon and Story of Seasons is a bit convoluted, but it's well-worth your time to learn a bit about both series.

Harvest Moon: One World is scheduled to launch on March 2.
