Crypton Future Media announced that Hatsune Miku VR is making its way to PlayStation VR after its 2018 PC debut.

Hatsune Miku is a representation of a singing voice synthesizer software. The software, Vocaloid, lets users synthesize singing by typing in lyrics and melodies. It uses recorded vocals of voice actors or singers. Miku’s voice specifically comes from Japanese voice actress Saki Fujita.

The original game was launched on Steam and featured popular songs like “Ievan Polkka,” “Sharing The World” and “SenbonZakura.” As the title is a rhythm action game, each song has Miku performing choreography on colorful stages. Each song has more than one difficulty level so that players can challenge themselves. The game also has a music video mode where fans can watch any song from multiple angles and are given a choice of stages and outfits. As of right now, the PC version has two DLC packs available, each containing five new songs. This version of the game comes in eleven languages and is compatible with Oculus Rift, Valve Index, and the HTC Vive systems. The game is listed as having mostly positive reviews.

The overview on the Hatsune Miku VR Steam page describes it as a chance to join “world-famous virtual singer Hatsune Miku” on stage. The game is played while standing and is room-scale. Users are prompted to “simply put on your headset, choose a song then use your VR controllers to catch the melody symbols flying from the speakers at the back of the stage. But beware the long riff symbols and other challenges that will make it harder to reach the perfect score!”

According to Gematsu, the PlayStation VR version of the game will be available to play at the “VR Game Experience Corner” at Magical Mirai 2019 in Osaka on August 10 and 11. It’ll be interesting to see if the game will have any added features or songs for this release.
