Rin, the Orchestrator of Doom is a Warlock class legendary in the upcoming Hearthstone expansion, Festival Of Legends. The expansion introduces the extensive new "music" mechanic to constructed, with each class representing a musical style. Warlock is branded as classical, hence our conductor legendary here.

This exclusive card reveal covers the card, its mechanics, key art, as well as how it might fit into the meta come the new expansion. Let's get into it.

Rin, Orchestrator Of Doom Reveal

Description: With a flick of her baton, Rin brings forth the end of worlds through discordant tones of demonic orchestra. Those who embrace the cacophony of souls shall find harmony in her destruction. Those opposed will have their screams drowned out by utter madness as their cards burn in a crescendo of chaos!

Rin is a 5 mana cost, 3/6 Warlock legendary - the class legendary musician. It's Taunted, and its Deathrattle effect is both players draw 2 cards, discard 2 cards, and destroy the top 2 cards of their deck.

Each class receives their own legendary musician and legendary musical spell. They are thematically stylized around different musical genres, from the Classical Warlock to the Disco Paladin.

Rin is a powerful card - while Discard Warlock has always been a bit of a gimmick (despite its success in the Wild format, who knew that printing a card mechanic over and over again would eventually result in something strong), the control that Rin can impose on the opponent's deck is pretty scary. We saw it with Patchwerk essentially deleting possible winning combinations in a deck - and now Rin destroys 2 cards and discards 2 cards, one extra card than Patchwerk.

Of course, the effects of the card also impact your own deck with Rin, but with the knowledge of what the card does, you can structure the rest of your deck to work in your favour. Does this finally mean the success of Discard Warlock in standard? It's hard to say - we'll have to wait and see until the full package of Warlock cards is revealed.

We'd go as far to say that Rin will see play in standard Warlock Control decks that don't make use of the Discard mechanic. New Warlock cards from the expansion, like the Opera Soloist (an excellent control card that deals 3 damage to all enemies if you have an empty board when played), suggest that Control Warlock is getting an extra little push this expansion.

There are also some interesting combinations between some of the other new cards in the expansion, cards that primarily fill your hand or your opponent's hand with cards. A card like Merch Seller, for example, replaces the top card of your opponent's deck with a random spell, or Pozzik, the neutral legendary, dumps two 3/3 bots in your opponent's hand. It will be really interesting to see if this sort of mechanic - blocking your opponent from playing any good cards, basically, will be popular in the meta. If it is, then Rin might see a lot of play.

Considering the cards revealed so far, it seems like a slower meta is being pushed in general - there are a lot of control-minded cards and some game-winning combos that will take longer to get started.

Hearthstone's Festival Of Legends expansion launches in April 2023. It features a new card mechanic, Overheal, as well as Instrument Weapons, Harmonic Spells, and a new mini-type of cards, the Soloist. There will be a total of 145 cards introduced with the set.
