Henry Cavill, the big star of DC's Superman films and Netflix's The Witcher, says he'd love to take part in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as a new character, never before played by anyone else. What superhero does Cavill hypothetically want to play? Captain Britain.

The actor spoke with The Hollywood Reporter about his most iconic roles to date and his ideas for the future. Henry Cavill said he "would absolutely love the opportunity" to return as Clark Kent, as there is still a lot of storytelling for him to do as Superman. "The cape is still in the closet," he jokes.

Although, after Warner Bros.' split with director and producer Zack Snyder, nothing involving Cavill as Superman is on the horizon. If he has to leave DC for good and join Marvel, Cavill already has a specific character in mind he'd like to put on screen.

"I'm never going to say a Marvel character that is already being played by someone else because everyone's doing such an amazing job," the actor said. "However, I have the internet and I have seen the various rumors about Captain Britain and that would be loads of fun to do a cool, modernized version of that — like the way they modernized Captain America. There's something fun about that, and I do love being British."

Above is one of the most popular pieces of fan art showing Cavill as the titular superhero, made by digital artist ApexForm. Captain Britain (Brian Braddock) first appeared in 1976, created by Chris Claremont, Alan Davis, and Alan Moore. He's basically MCU's Captain America — a supersoldier with extraordinary physical powers — but intended exclusively for the British comics market. Seems like Cavill could be a good replacement for retired Steve Rogers, played by Chris Evans, though it's nothing but a dream for now.

Fans will see Henry Cavill pretty soon as Geralt of Rivia in the Witcher Season 2, coming to Netflix on December 17. We also recently spoke to his partner on set, Anya Chalotra, who plays iconic sorceress Yennefer of Vengerberg.

Aside from The Witcher, Cavill also has a bunch of other intriguing projects on the table, like the spy-action film Argylle, the Enola Holmes sequel, and a reboot of the action-fantasy film, Highlander.
