Leave it to CD Projekt Red to hide a secret message about the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 DLC in the game's official launch trailer. If you haven't already seen it, go check out the trailer below. It's a little different from previous Cyberpunk 2077 trailers in that it's a lot more... sad. It's a slow song with a lot of whispering voices and sad female faces.

There's still gunfights and action scenes too, but it's a big change in tone from what we're used to from Cyberpunk.

Artistic direction aside, the trailer also has a single frame at the end that hides a pretty big message. Don't both trying to freeze the YouTube video on that frame unassisted otherwise you're just going to waste hours of your life (I may be speaking from experience).

Instead, we'll thank Rock Paper Shotgun for using software to freeze the frame in question for our review.

“We’ve mentioned before that expansions will be coming, and while we’re not ready to talk specifics just yet, we will say that we’ve learned a lot from our work on both Hearts of Stone & Blood and Wine," the hidden message says. "Our planned expansions will take you even deeper into the world of Cyberpunk 2077, offering substantial, story-driven content that’ll give you tough choices to make through impactful narratives that you won’t soon forget.

“But before we get there, we’ll first be kicking off our free DLC program in early 2021. Just like with The Witcher 3, expect an assortment of free DLC packs to begin hitting Night City, dropping a bunch of cool stuff that’ll inject even more life into the world of the dark future.”

Those Witcher 3 free DLCs CD Projekt Red is referring to were mostly new outfits, some small sidequests, and a New Game+ mode. After that, we can expect larger, more story-based DLC along the same lines as the Witcher 3's paid DLC.

Still no idea on the whens and wherefores, but all in good time. Cyberpunk 2077 arrives tonight at midnight, GMT.

Cyberpunk 2077 is available for PC on GOG.COM, Steam and Epic, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Stadia from December 10, 2020. When you buy Cyberpunk 2077 on GOG.COM, 100% of your money goes to CD PROJEKT Group and supports their future projects.
