The main narrative of Life Is Strange: True Colors sees Haven Springs newcomer Alex Chen try to bring down the Typhon corporation. However, that's not the only plotline in the game. More so than any other entry in the series, True Colors includes plenty of little stories that many people will miss.
These tales are told in various ways: some are within random notes, others are in old text messages, and a few occur in locations you may not visit. Don't worry if you missed them during your playthrough, as here are some of the most interesting or notable ones.
8 Duckie And Tabitha
True Colors isn't a long game, but it's even shorter if you don't leave the Spring Festival in chapter four and explore the rest of Haven. There are still some people out there, after all, including Duckie. The old fisherman is sitting alone in the Black Lantern and isn't really in the mood to talk. But with Alex's power, you can get to the bottom of what's wrong with him.
You then hear the beautiful love story between Duckie and a woman called Tabitha, from their first meeting to their 30th anniversary. The two got married at the Spring Fest, which is why the widow doesn't want to join in on the festivities. At least Alex can cheer him up a bit.
7 Alex's Best Friend
During the game, Alex's past is brought up many times, and usually, the stories aren't positive ones. But at one point, you can find an upbeat letter from someone named Chelsea. You get more insight into their friendship through Alex's old text messages.
The protagonist stood up for her friend at one point and even got her a necklace for her birthday, which Chelsea really appreciated. From their interactions, it seems like the two were pretty much the only shining lights in each other lives during that time. And the thought of leaving Chelsea made Alex's decision to come to Haven a difficult one.
6 Bird Spotting Competition
In chapter two, it's possible to help a birdwatcher find the right bird. If you're observant, you may notice at that moment that she mentions a contest in which she's competing.
An old post in the MyBlock app reveals that the competition is run by the Haven Springs Birding Society. And in the comment section of said post, Ryan is very confident that he's going to get the victory. However, in chapter three, you can overhear that the woman you helped in the previous chapter emerged as the champion. So, Alex deserves some credit for the success.
5 The Unsure Miner
After the events of the first chapter, most of the main characters don't trust Typhon. In fact, some people aim to bring the mining company down. Yet, it's not just the people affected by the tragedy that is untrustworthy of them. At various points during the game, you can find a young miner progressively become disillusioned with his employers.
This little background story is told through several conversations the man has with his mother and fellow miners. It gives you a different perspective on the corporation. Plus, the story shows that it's not just a small group of people that have an issue with the company's practices.
4 Alex's Search For Places To Stay
One of the reasons why some consider Alex Chen to be the best character in Life Is Strange history is because she managed to overcome her difficult upbringing. More details about her time in foster care are hidden within her old text messages.
While reading them, it becomes evident that Alex often left foster care and tried to find somewhere else to stay. Occasionally she had nice friends help her out, but there were dark moments, too. One guy even took advantage of her situation to get her into bed.
3 The Adventures Of The Angry Man
While roaming around Haven, you're likely to meet all sorts of people. For instance, there is a man that the game names 'Bald Guy,' who has a little problem controlling his anger. At different points during your time in the town, you can hear him ranting about something.
On one occasion, he's frustrated with his anger management book, and another time, he's losing his mind due to being kept on hold. It's hard not to laugh at the man's outrage because it's so often over the top.
2 The Ending Of Steph's Band
In Before The Storm, the likable Steph was a talented student at Blackwell. Yet, True Colors is set nine years after that game, so she's likely done plenty of things in-between. And one of those things was to start a band with a trans person named Izzie.
From a few memories in the game, including a significant one in chapter four, you learn that the pair called themselves Drugstore Makeup. And the duo was hired to play a show in Haven Springs, which ended up being their downfall as Steph fell in love with the place and decided to stay. The band disbanded as a result.
1 Gabe's Quest For Forgiveness
During the game, you learn that Gabe did some questionable things in his childhood. Alex's big brother even ended up in Juvie at one point, Yet, the guy turned his life around and became a mature, kind-hearted human being. But a note found in his place proves that he never forgot his misdeeds.
On the piece of paper is a list of people with who Gabe intends to apologize. There are many names on that note, and he managed to make amends with some of them. The most notable person listed, though, is his father. Their issues are very well-documented in the game, but the paper proves that Gabe was willing to apologize for his part in it. Unfortunately, he never got the chance.
