The release of Death Stranding is fast approaching and the pressure is on Hideo Kojima and his team to release a high-quality product, but it seems that the pressure might be getting to Kojima, as he has expressed a desire on social media to live where it's better, down where it's wetter... as a crab.

The video game industry is host to a number of demanding positions. The existence of crunch in the lead up to the release of a new game has been a hot topic over the past year, with revelations about unhealthy working conditions at some of the biggest developers in the world being made public. The same working conditions are also present in Japan and many big-name developers have admitted to working themselves to the point of illness, such as Masahiro Sakurai going to work on the Super Smash Bros. series while still connected to an IV drip.

It seems that the pressure might be weighing heavy on Hideo Kojima, as he has discussed his schedule in a recent Twitter post. The 2019 Tokyo Game Show is due to start on September 12 and a lengthy gameplay video of Death Stranding is planned to be shown at the event. The promotion for Death Stranding has also kicked into high gear, as the game is due to be released in November. The pressure is such that Hideo Kojima has stated that he wants to become a crab, as most crustaceans don't have to deal with the stress of the video game industry.

The most interesting aspect of Kojima's tweet that isn't crab-related is the fact that work has already begun on his next project. The nature of the project hasn't been confirmed, but it's likely the next video game that will be released by Kojima Productions.

It's possible that a sequel to Death Stranding might already be in the early stages of development, or maybe it's a new game entirely. It's also possible that the project might not be related to gaming at all, as Kojima is a noted film buff and it's easy to see him heading up a movie project.

Death Stranding is due to be released for PlayStation 4 on November 8, 2019.
