You’re here because you’re obsessed with League of Legends and you want to find out if you’ve seen all of the dankest comics that fans have to offer. League of Legends now has tens of millions of players and over 100 champions. But it hasn’t always been this way. Before we get started, let’s go over a bit of backstory as to where the now legendary game of League of Legends came from.

Way back in 2009, before League of Legends existed, there was a little game called Dota. Dota was similar to League, only for those reading this, much, much worse. That’s why they decided to create a better version of Dota called League of Legends. A place where people could go and become their characters, connect to them, and learn the meaning of the word “feed.” And so, the creators now known as Riot Games, created forty unique champions for users to fall in love with. The year it was released it won IGN PC Best Strategy Game 2009 Readers' Choice and GameSpy Gamers' Choice Awards 2009. Along with all of our hearts. Now, not even ten years later, it’s still one of our very favorite video games of all time.

Today, the launch of League of Legends is old news, and so we sit and play the game, waiting for new champions to be released. Whenever we’re not playing, what better way to feel the time than to look at League of Legends comics that all of us crazed fans will instantly connect to.

31 The Truth About Garen

Via: Imgur.com

One of my all-time favorite League of Legends comics. It’s the truth about who Garen really is, and it makes way too much sense. He’s big, tough, and manly, right? Or maybe not. What if his armor is really his entire faux body? What if Garen is secretly a yordle in disguise? It makes so much sense.

He loves bushes like Teemo does

He talks big like Veigar. He loves bushes like Teemo does. He is a military man like Poppy and Tristana. He’s totally crazy just like Lulu and Heimer! And he’s a big child on the inside like Gnar.

This is fate! We found out what Garen really is and it makes us love him so much more! Thanks Rito for this little Easter egg hidden in plain sight.

30 I’d Listen To Ivy

Via: leagueoflegends.com

Or shall we say Zyra? Them boys won’t leave the plants alone! Zyra may not be the strongest champion in the game and you know she is statistically the squishiest. But does that stop her from being a threat? Of course not! I don’t blame her for being particular about her plants. After all, she’s literally a plant that took on the form of a humanoid in order to save herself from extinction. The plants she summons are part of her. That’s like someone stepping on your own flesh and blood. Disgusting!

However, the boys don’t respect her body and instead objectify it. “Hey can we eat this like a Honeyfruit?” one of them asks. More like a Blast Cone, honey. One that will blow you to smithereens.

29 Dumped By Her BFF

Via: leagueoflegends.com

When Bard came out not so long ago, you know that Soraka was ecstatic to hear that another celestial being would be joining her on the rift. But two things kept them from growing close. One was the fact that he was a support and thus would likely never be on her team. The other, was that there was one thing he loved more than stars…and that was music.

His love for music was so strong that it connected him to a beautiful woman named Sona. Their music together charmed (not literally) the world, healed their allies, and made their enemies dance until they dropped. One time, they even decided to band together bot lane! Of course, they were destroyed about a hundred times by Cait and Thresh, but they had so much fun together!

28 Can He Just Hit A Hook

Via: pinterest.com

For those who don’t know it, this comic is making fun of the fact that it seems Blitzcrank players are incapable of hitting a hook. So when he was asked to fetch some more Graggy Ice, he failed and hit a minion. Yet again. As it seems impossible for him to hit anything other than a minion.

This Blitz is all of us though, in life

In game, all he can do is try to pick off their ADC, but hits a minion instead. That’s 100 mana that will take him five minutes to get back! This Blitz is all of us though, in life. No matter how hard we try, we just can’t do what we want to do. We attempt to help the world, but end up destroying everything we held dear in the process.

27 Got Ya A Blue Buff, Sweetie

Via: k1m1kn1ght.deviantart.com

This happens time and time again. The fight for blue buff. However, we all know how the guys on the rift can be. They are suckers for pretty ladies. Whether it’s Ahri or Jinx, they just can’t tell her no. So when she asks for that sacred blue buff, of course, what can a jungler do but say “sure, sweetie”?

Most of the time, junglers don’t like giving their mid blue unless they are higher elo. But man, if you can sweet talk them into it, you’re set. Pretend to be a nice girl and it’s all yours, bb. Just make sure to report him after the game for harassment if you’re a real girl. Because that’s how it works when someone calls you BB.

26 Never Underestimate The Annie!

Via: vacou.deviantart.com

Annie is one of the most hated champions in League. She’s cheap, easy, and forever relevant. What’s ironic here is that Graves isn’t even an ADC anymore and yet he’s scolding Annie for supporting. In the end, we all know who wins early game. Annie (like Karma and Brand) will be stronger than the enemy ADC, hands down. No healer can match her early game and everyone knows it. But that doesn’t mean that your ADC isn’t’ going to say, “I got this, it’s an Annie support and she’s not meta! Let’s end her.”

And that’s the story of how Graves ADC got first frag, winning them the lane and the eventual game. Of course, Graves got the honors rather than Annie since he got the eliminations, but is Annie upset? You betcha!

25 Why Jax Went All Villain

Via: 9gag.com

The reason Jax carries around a lamp is because authorities thought he was too strong to have a real weapon. So they wouldn’t allow him near any blade or bludgeoned end. He’s still incredibly annoying with that lantern and is so OP at times. But didn’t you wonder what caused him to go dark? Maybe…just maybe he lost his father at a young age. Not to passing exactly, but to a place beyond the stars. Bard would continue to wander the planet for years, rarely looking back for a second. He had bigger plans on his plate than carrying for a son now.

Maybe…the reason that Jax wanders around, looking for an opponent worth fighting, is for two reasons. To take out his aggression for what he lost and to hopefully one day be reunited with his terrible father.

24 Ninjas Nerfed Us

Via: leagueofelegends.com

It’s all starting to make sense. Why nerf the heals? To make the assassins and ninjas stronger! No wonder they have medical skins. It’s because when people get wounded, they gain from it. It’s all a sort of euphemism used to describe the gold (and eliminations) gained by taking away the power of healing. When magic is no longer in use, champions must go to the doctor to heal. We use “heal” lightly because we pretty much mean bursted down with the energy of these so-called doctor assassins.

Take away their power and they’re useless

What a low move to actually make assassin’s more powerful. The only thing saving the squishies before was the power of supports. Take away their power and they’re useless yet again against that gap-closing assassin. Is this what you want, Rito?

23 Shyvana’s A Half Breed

Via: karindaawesome.deviantart.com

Have you ever really thought about the fact that Shyvana is a half-breed dragon? Anyone who is a “half-breed” knows that the full bred individuals look down upon you. No wonder Shyv is a jungler! She wants to spend all her time slaying dragons or maybe just talking smack to them. She feels lesser because she’s half human and the dragons know that. She wants to be accepted by both humans and dragons, but she cannot. The humans will see her as a dragon and the dragons will see her as a human. She is cast aside by them both and so she roams the jungle in danger of being reported. She needs love and understanding, but instead she gets banned. The poor, poor dragon…or was it human?

22 Garen, Master Camper

Via: memcenter.com

There’s this ongoing joke about how Garen likes bushes more than anyone. He will literally sit in the brush all game, waiting for unsuspecting victims. This joke is used for countless comics and memes and I think this one does it the most justice. It’s a perfect picture of what goes on. ADC runs from Jungler and hides in a bush. A bush that is occupied by a lazy top laner who is watching the game from the sidelines. Likely on a live television!

This one is an oldie but a goodie that never truly goes out of style. Because Rammus and Garen will always be a thing, and their playstyles will never change. Rammus will forever chase and Garen will forever charge out of bushes onto unsuspecting victims.

21 The Other Side Of Garen

Via: liubeixuande.deviantart.com

One side of Garen shows us his cowardice and laziness of refusing to farm and instead camping in the brush. The other side of him shows us that “fear no evil” side where he refuses to give up or call himself weak. He will take on any foe no matter what his life is. Sometimes it works out, but other times…he kind of falls to a jungle buff. Speaking of, does anyone else remember lizards? Good times, am I right?

All he’ll be able to do is charge in and perish

That aside, Garen may possibly feed if he gets countered because all he’ll be able to do is charge in and perish. As much as they love bushes, Garens are no cowards. They love to charge, yelling, “Demacia!!!” as they run through the battlefield. If only they could add a little common sense to that.

20 The Innocent Support May Be Your Downfall

Via: xbeachboylloydx.deviantart.com

Why is it that 99% of supports seem to have this happy-go-lucky, blonde personality? It’s so strange! This Leona is the perfect representation of that. She tries to do something “cool and nice” and ends up hurting someone in the process. It’s adorable and destructive. Two things that don’t often go hand in hand. But with supports, it happens. All they want to do is help. But sometimes they try so hard that they end up hurting you, as well as themselves. They may even get so caught up in their own little world that they ignore you completely just long enough for you to perish as ADC.

Oh, supports, we love you so much, you sometimes you can be really immature. Adorable, yet so immature.

19 Turret’s Syndrome

Via: pinterest.com

Anyone who has ever tried to get someone (especially a non-gamer) into League, knows this struggle. Their number one problem is that they don’t understand turrets. They will literally fall over and over again for months. This is a problem, and it frustrates them to no end. But their out of character cursing and yelling is worth it. How often are they calm, cool, and collected? How often have they told you to stop yelling because it’s just a game? For them to finally understand your pain could do wonders for your relationship!

If you ever want to grow closer to your parent, then get them into League. They might fail at first, but that failure will help them understand the struggle you go through in everyday life.

18 Sure, Thanks Yi!

Via: pinterest.com

These two quotes go hand in hand and are two of the most famous on The Rift. Jax wants a real weapon and Master Yi offers up his own sword. Together, they make a funny little story that was just asking for someone to make a comic out of it. This is even funnier when you play off of the fan theory that Yi is Jax’s father. Yeah, we already talked about how Bard is his father, but an older fan theory suggests Yi is his father in reality.

This can only mean one thing, at least one of the theories is wrong, or Yi and Bard were once a couple. If that’s too much for you to take, then you better pick a side, and pick it quick.

17 If Monsters Played League

Via:

You know how we control the champions in League of Legends? Well, someone has to control the monsters, right? You didn’t think they were NPCs, did you? It’s true that minions feed, dragons are in a lot of fights, and Baron is The Rift’s Most Wanted. In their world, they are victims who must watch their own backs or be attacked by potentially ten people at once! That’s scary for the poor dragon who is in the middle of a team fight. All he can do is fight them off for a few seconds before he’s completely destroyed and his brethren must take his place.

We don’t really know whose team these monsters are on

As for the buffs, they have it the worst. They are fought over by teammates. Or at least their jungler’s teammates. Because we don’t really know whose team these monsters are on.

16 Champions Cosplay Too

Via: phsueh.deviantart.com

I’ve thought this as well. Renekton’s weapon looks similar to Sona’s. But never have I ever dreamt that he would cosplay as her. It makes sense, makes people underestimate him, and it sure is fun! It’s a little guilty pleasure that could actually be helpful. The enemy team will assume Sona is ganking and their laughing will lose them control, allowing Renekton to strike hard.

Best part of this meme though? His brother, the only one who could never mistake him, walks in on him. That and the fact that Renekton is the “evil” brother. Seeing the evil brother (imagine Loki) dressed up like Sona is so comical that we want this to be a skin. Please, Rito, make this a real skin. Definitely Not Renekton, maybe?

15 Lee’s Face Though

Via: leagueoflegends.com

How intense is Lee’s face? It alone will cause you to go into convulsions. But aside from that, the entire idea of the comic is hilarious. Fear the support! Fear them! They have wards aplenty and aren’t afraid to use them. Dare to mess with them and they will squash you like a bug! No offense Kha’Zix!

If you can’t stop laughing at Lee’s face, then just look at Yasuo’s. It’s not really any better. As hilarious as the faces are, let’s not miss the real point, which is that supports aren’t useless and wards win games. Wait, is that the point or is the point that supports are useless and so are wards? Is this satirical or is it trying to teach us something important? So confusing!

14 A Sword Mirrors Its Owner

Via: leagueoflegends.com

You mean to tell me that Tryndamere’s sword is that much bigger and heavier than Riven’s? No way! The bottom line is that he’s a big whiner baby and she’s a strong, independent woman. He tries to taunt her by making chicken noises but you know who has the last laugh (besides whoever hits six first)? Riven because she’s ten times stronger than he could ever dream of being. There’s no way she’d disrespect her sword by dragging it. No matter how broken it is!

Only one of them could actually pick their sword up

Both backstories include heavy swords and how impressed the elders were with each child’s ability to carry them. But only one of them could actually pick their sword up and not have to slow enemies down in order to catch them.

13 Everyone Thought This

Via: memecenter.com

No kidding, the first time I played League, I had no idea what anyone meant by “leash” and so I fumbled around. This happens to pretty much everyone and it gets you yelled at. Thankfully, you also don’t know how to use chat, so it works out nicely. This is amplified when Warwick is your jungler (happens in low elo) and you are asked to leash him. Leash a puppy? This must be a joke, right?

The terms in League are hard to keep up with at the start and this ends with you getting flamed. Even though everyone had trouble to begin with, they just expect you to magically learn all of the terms day one. “Play bots!” they say. When really, they could just go play ranked.

12 Almost Every Vayne Ever

Via: narvii.deviantart.com

ADCs can be pains at times. Sure, anyone can. But for supports, ADCs are the biggest pains. They gripe, complain, and blame you for their every mistake. In case you can’t see the fine details, in this comic, Vayne is doing everything wrong and saying it’s Lulu’s fault. She even knocks the enemy out of Lulu’s abilities and blames Lulu for it. In the end, like any good flamer, she leaves.

This doesn’t just go for Vayne, but any flamer. Somedays it’s even Lulu, who blames her ADC for everything that she does wrong and ends up leaving when her own guilt overwhelms her. Nah! Who are we kidding, Lulu’s are adorable! No one ever has an unkind word to say about the crazy little yordle.
