Hitman 2 tasks its players with finding creative and unusual solutions to a map-wide puzzle box of assassination. To find the best way to eliminate your targets, you'll need to use a wide array of weapons, explosives, and firearms.

However, not every item from Hitman 2 is a gun, bomb, or katana. Some of them are more nuanced in nature, having multiple uses that allow players to navigate through the levels more easily or to perform their assassinations in new, unique ways. These handy tools are an essential part of every assassin's starting gear, so let's take a look at the 10 best.

10 Remote EMP Charge

The Remote EMP charge has a few various functions, which are rather situational. It can be used to disable a variety of electronic devices at a distance in many levels, from TVs to computers.

Where this device really shines, though, is when dealing with security cameras. If you find the security room, you can use this tool to wipe the tapes, disabling security for an entire level without having to physically take the time to do it at the computer, giving you a leg up on the rest of the mission.

9 ICA Titanium Crowbar

Given that all of Hitman 2's levels have buildings in them, naturally these buildings will have doors. Some of the doors that players will need to get through will, regrettably, be locked. That's where the ICA Titanium Crowbar comes in.

The Crowbar can be used to pry open locked doors, granting access to restricted areas. On top of that, there are certain exits to missions that can only be found by using the Crowbar to reveal them. While there are often regular crowbars in the levels, it's still nice to have the ability to bring your own.

8 ICA Remote Taser

The ICA Remote Taser is next on our list. It functions similarly to remote explosives, meaning you can trigger it from afar. This can be useful if you need to quickly dispatch a troublesome guard or NPC, but don't have time to choke them unconscious.

However, the Taser can also be used for accident kills. If a target passes into a pool of water, then you can toss the Taser in after them to electrocute them. This counts as accidental and preserves your Silent Assassin rating for the level.

7 Remote Breaching Charge

The Remote Breaching Charge is an explosive device that doesn't actually do much damage. This might make it seem like it isn't the best tool available, but it does have its uses. After all, the lower explosive yield is accompanied by less sound, making it a handy gadget.

The Charge can be used to quietly blast open locked doors or safes. Additionally, it can even break very weak walls, opening up new paths through a level. This makes it a very useful tool to have on hand no matter the mission.

6 Syringes

Sometimes in Hitman 2, you'll be able to isolate your targets temporarily but will have difficulty determining how to proceed from there. Fortunately, the game's wide selection of Syringes has you covered. Whether you need to kill them or just knock them out, there's a Syringe for that.

Using a Lethal Syringe will kill your target (naturally) while preserving your Silent Assassin rating, while an Emetic Syringe will cause them to seek out the nearest toilet to vomit into. The Sedative Syringe can be used to knock them out quickly, giving Syringes a wide range of uses.

5 Remote Emetic Gas Device

Giving someone Emetic Poison in Hitman 2, as mentioned in earlier entries, causes them to get sick. This can be handy when isolating targets, but tricky to pull off when they're surrounded by a large crowd.

Enter the Remote Emetic Gas Device. Placing this little gizmo somewhere in the level - ideally well hidden - and triggering it from afar will release a cloud of Emetic Poison, making anyone nearby violently ill. It's a handy way to deal with your targets (or any troublesome NPCs) from a distance.

4 ICA Executive Briefcase Mk II

Most of the briefcases available in Hitman 2 are just reskinned versions of the same basic item - a case that allows you to bring large and illegal items or weapons into the level. The ICA Executive Briefcase Mk II, however, is a different beast.

This briefcase can be thrown at NPCs, and will slowly home in on them through the air as it flies. Born from a bug in the early days of the game's release, the "accidental feature" was added in later as a reward for players and a nod to the hilarity of the coding glitch.

3 Electronic Key Hacker

The Electronic Key Hacker (and the functionally identical Disposable Scrambler) has a single purpose - to open doors locked with key cards. This comes in handy in levels like Hokkaido, where every door operates this way, or for opening critical paths through the map.

It does have its limits, though - you can only bring three Key Hackers (six with the Scrambler), and performing the card swipe then counts as an illegal action, no matter the disguise. On top of this, card locked doors aren't actually that common, so while this tool is useful, it's not a must-have.

2 Lockpick

The Lockpick is exactly what one would imagine it is - a way to open doors and safes locked with keys. It's a self-explanatory item, one that edges its way past the Electronic Key Hacker for a few different reasons.

For one, there are simply more key locked doors in Hitman 2 levels than card locked. Additionally, the Lockpick can be used infinitely many times. While it still counts as an illegal action to pick a lock, the advantage of the Lockpick opening nearly every door still makes it a necessary part of every assassin's toolkit.

1 ICA Electrocution Phone

Finally, our pick for the best tool to bring along on your missions is the ICA Electrocution Phone. This nifty little gizmo can be thrown, dropped, or placed anywhere in the levels, distracting NPCs, electrocuting them once you call it.

What makes this device stand out from the rest is that the kill counts as an accident, meaning it doesn't matter if the body is found - your Silent Assassin rating is intact. This is why the ICA Electrocution Phone is our pick for the best tool in the game.
