The recent launch of Hitman 3 was the best in series history, according to a statement from IO Interactive. Agent 47's latest outing has been a critical success – earning positive reviews from most critics – and it seems that fans were just as eager to wrap up the bald assassin's long-running adventure.

IO Interactive's statement is brief, but it's enough to tell us Hitman 3 is off to a strong start. "Hitman 3 has arrived! And it's the biggest launch in franchise history," wrote IO Interactive. The developer doesn't reveal any specific numbers – and this relates to digital sales only – but it’s a great sign for the game's future. IO Interactive made the decision last year to self-publish Hitman 3, and it seems to be paying off.

Hitman 3 is currently an Epic Games Store exclusive on PC. That was cause for concern in the days leading up to launch, as it was revealed players who owned Hitman 2 on storefronts beyond EGS would need to repurchase the title in order to access those levels. Thankfully, IO Interactive stepped in to fix the problem in collaboration with Epic Games – giving players access to content on other services such as Steam.

Hitman 3 is now available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. A cloud version is also available on Nintendo Switch.
