Hitman 3 is the most successful Hitman game of all time. That's according to IO Interactive CEO Hakan Abrak who broke the news in a video update for all the new content coming in Hitman 3's second year.

"Through hard work, grit, determination, and sticking to our guns through some rough times, Hitman 3 now stands as the most successful Hitman game of all time," Abrak said, adding that the entire World of Assassination Trilogy has now broken 50 million players total.

We already know that Hitman 3 is a huge financial success thanks to IOI announcing "record-breaking profits" following the game's release last January. Total revenue increased 136% to $78 million for the year, with Hitman 3 hitting 300% of its sales budget by October of 2021.

That massive success has encouraged IO Interactive to add to Hitman 3 in its second year with new features, new technologies, and best of all, new content. The PC version of Hitman 3 is getting some extra love with ray tracing and VR coming next year. PC VR will come first in January, with ray tracing to come later.

Sadly, DLSS was not mentioned, which would have been a huge benefit for VR players using Nvidia GPUs.

Even if you're not a PC player, there's still lots to look forward to in Hitman 3 next year. Abrak said there will be "new maps, new storylines, new modes," and "new ways of playing" all coming next year, along with a "few surprises" and something that the Hitman community has been asking for a "very, very long time."

Details will be revealed in January, but to give us a teaser, the video ends with a look at one of the new maps. It appears to be a very modern-looking mansion in the middle of an old wood forest, with a roof made of grass and a hallway full of guns. Expect to learn more in the new year.
