One of the more surprising reveals during yesterday's PS5 presentation was the announcement of Hitman 3. Not only will the game serve as the conclusion to the World of Assassination trilogy, but the contracts in that game will be the "most important contracts" in Agent 47's career. As such, it will be interesting to see how the story concludes and what happens at the end of it.

After the announcement was made, many fans started wondering how the game will treat Hitman 1 and Hitman 2 in regards to progression as well as save files. For instance, when Hitman 2 released in 2018, owners of Hitman 1 were able to transfer content via Legacy Packs that included all missions and locations from that game over to Hitman 2. Since the feature was seen by many as a really good one, the hope is that Hitman 3 will have a similar concept that will allow players to transfer over content rather than having that content exclusively tied to Hitman 1 and Hitman 2.

As it turns out, it will actually be possible to transfer all content from the two previous Hitman games into Hitman 3. After the game's announcement, the Hitman website was updated to reflect the new installment in the series and provide players with more information about the game. One bit of information on the new website touches upon progress. Specifically, according to the website, "All locations from Hitman 1 and Hitman 2 can be imported and played within Hitman 3 at no additional cost for existing owners – plus progression from Hitman 2 is directly carried over into Hitman 3 at launch."

Based on the above statement's wording, owners of Hitman 1 and Hitman 2 will have the ability to transfer all locations over to Hitman 3 and replay them, but with new game mechanics and elements that Hitman 3 has to offer. Additionally, progress from Hitman 2 can also be carried over, which is a huge sigh of relief for anyone who worked hard to obtain all unlocks and rewards in that game. Simply put, players will be able to use all equipment from Hitman 2 in Hitman 3.

Hitman 3 is scheduled to release in January 2021 for PS4, PC, Xbox One, as well as next-generation consoles.
