Hogwarts Legacy, the action RPG set in the Harry Potter universe, was originally scheduled to arrive in 2021. However, Warner Brothers delayed the game to 2022 last January, which was a sure sign that development was nowhere near completed.

Just recently, a report from Colin Moriarty of the Sacred Symbols podcast said that Hogwarts Legacy was "in some sort of trouble" and the "game isn't coming out this year.” No further details were provided, but it would track with the total lack of news that was provided in the only update Avalanche Studio provided last month, which was less of an update and more of a reminder that the game still exists.

Given what we know, it'd be a fair assumption that Hogwarts Legacy isn't coming in 2022 either. But the official Wizarding World website tells us that's not the case. In a new blog update, Wizarding World confirms everything coming in 2022, including Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore in April as well as the Fantastic Beasts: A Natural History documentary starring Stephen Fry later this year. Hogwarts Legacy is also listed with a 2022 release date.

Developed by Avalanche Software and published by Warner Bros. Games’ Portkey Games label, Hogwarts Legacy will let players create their own wizards and experience the world of Harry Potter. "From learning powerful spells and brewing potions, to honing combat skills and taming magical beasts," reads Wizarding World, "this game will allow players to experience the magical world as a student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry like never before as they determine the fate of the entire wizarding world."

Last year, Warner Bros. said that Hogwarts Legacy would release sometime after The Secrets of Dumbledore, so don't expect a surprise winter release. Not that you'd really need one as February and March are both looking rather packed for game releases.
