Hollow Knight is about to get its next DLC update. Team Cherry, the publisher of the acclaimed indie title, announced on Twitter that fans can get a "first look" at the Hornet update on February 14th.

Although the tweet doesn't reveal much, an earlier blog post on Team Cherry's site has a few tidbits of information. First, the story has a new boss called Sharpe, an assassin who is given the mission of destroying Hornet. Sharpe will be bringing two other new bosses with him on his hunt for Hornet. While Sharpe's design was unveiled, the two other characters are shadowed. Team Cherry says these backer bosses (referring to the game's Kickstarter) and dungeons will be available with Hornet. Hollow Knight fans, especially those who helped out big with the Kickstarter, have some notable things to look forward to.

Hornet is a major character in Hollow Knight. You run into her a few times early on, and it's clear she has a mysterious agenda. Getting to play as her in this update will certainly be interesting. If you haven't played Hollow Knight, and enjoy the Metroidvania genre, this game is worth playing. The story follows a young knight and his quest through the dark and danger-filled kingdom of Hallownest. Challenging bosses await the player in an interconnected world. Like Super Metroid, the knight must find new power-ups to travel through different areas. It's an atmospheric title that has the player explore and tread carefully.

Hollow Knight has done well for itself critically. The PC version has a score of 87 on Metacritic, and the Nintendo Switch release achieved a 90. A physical release of the game was planned, but unfortunately canceled in November. Interestingly, the ESRB appears to have rated Hollow Knight. As NintendoSoup notes, digital-only titles do not need ESRB ratings. This could point to a physical release of Hollow Knight. We'll have to wait and see.
