Mihoyo's other free-to-play action RPG, Honkai Impact 3rd, is headed to Steam this month. The exact date in October isn't confirmed just yet, but Mihoyo did mention this version won't support cross-play with other platforms.

For those that may be unfamiliar, Honkai Impact 3rd is another mobile RPG from Genshin Impact developer and publisher Mihoyo. It's the older of the two and originally just started out as a mobile experience but launched with its own PC client back in 2019. Mihoyo has refined that launcher over time and delivered a big update earlier in the year to bring it more in line with the snazzy new look you see the Genshin Impact client sporting.

We first reported on rumors of a Steam version back in September, after a series of trustworthy leaks pointed to Honkai's new release. In Mihoyo's post on Twitter, it notes you'll receive a "mystery present" for wishlisting Honkai Impact 3rd on Steam, and while we don't know what that is just yet, those same leaks indicate that it may be a special emblem.

Unfortunately, if you were hoping to play on mobile and on Steam, it sounds like that's not possible. The client supported on Mihoyo's official website offers that functionality, but the PC Steam release locks you to only playing on Steam. It's the exact same game in all instances, but it may still be a neat opportunity for new players if you're considering picking up Valve's Steam Deck.

Honkai Impact 3rd may not kick up quite the degree of fanfare you see from Genshin Impact, but if you enjoy mecha and fast-paced action, it's worth at least giving a shot. You may have noticed some of Honkai's ideas and inspirations eventually find their way to Teyvat, too. The dorm system eventually saw a new iteration in Genshin, adding player housing as the Serenitea Pot.

This isn't the first time Mihoyo ventured into new storefronts. Genshin Impact joined the Epic Games Store library back in June, but there's still no word on if it'll join its older sibling on Steam just yet.
