While you might want to turn your nose up at Asta's kit in Honkai: Star Rail, it would be unfair to dismiss her without trying her out with some decent party members. Honkai has a lot to offer, and with all the characters you can find decent synergies.

Asta's personal damage isn't great, but her passive ability grants a party-wide attack buff that stacks up to five times. Not to mention, her attack can inflict a burn damage-over-time debuff that will help chip away at tough enemies. Whether you're an Asta convert, or you want to try her, you should consider using her with these team members.

7 Dan Heng

Dan Heng (Data Bank) from Honkai: Star Rail

Dan Heng is a great unit to use along with Asta due to how both of their Talents synergise together. Asta grants a passive party-wide buff whenever she hits an enemy with her Skill, and this buff stacks five times. Dan Heng's passive Talent grants him enhanced Wind Penetration damage whenever he receives a buff.

Working with these two together lets Dan Heng deal significant damage consistently. Not to mention, Dan Heng can inflict slow on enemies, while Asta can buff the entire party's speed with her Ultimate. These two alone let you mess with the turn order enough to give you an advantage.

6 Pela

Honkai: Star Rail - Pela looks at the enemies with crosshairs on her glasses during her Ultimate

Pela is an excellent support character who complements Asta's playstyle incredibly well. Pela can remove enemy buffs, but her other incredibly useful ability is her Ultimate, which has a chance to lower enemy defence.

Stacking this effect from Pela with Asta's burn damage-over-time and her party-wide attack buff can make short work of enemies. Pela and Asta would work extremely well with Seele or another main DPS who can benefit from all the damage buffs and weakened enemies, so consider this when creating comps.

5 Seele

Seele is already capable of dealing incredible single-target damage, as well as being able to give herself another turn if she kills an enemy. With Asta's attack buff, she can become even more of a powerhouse. Seele or whoever you choose as your main DPS can always benefit from having Asta in the party.

Asta is arguably a little weak, especially considering her buff doesn't last very long, but due to its consistency, she has great uptime on being a viable support. Seele directly benefits from any damage increase – as you might imagine – so pair them up and see what works.

4 Tingyun

Tingyun is the buffer extraordinaire of Honkai: Star Rail. She's been likened to Bennett from Genshin Impact since she provides significant attack boosts, albeit to a single target. While it might seem like overkill to have two damage buffers in your party, you can never deal too much damage.

The best part of these two together is that they fulfil the same role but they are different elements. This is crucial because it increases the versatility of your teams. Stack these two buffers with a main DPS of any flavour you need for the occasion and they will carry you hard through some tough fights.

3 Clara

Honkai Star Rail Clara Splash Art and Menu

Clara is an excellent five-star unit in Honkai: Star Rail and her damage is high as a physical-tank type. The best thing about Clara's kit is her passive, which will counter any enemy attack aimed at her with a powerful laser blast from her friend Mr Svarog. She can increase her own damage and with Asta's help, she will be blasting a hole through any enemy who dares attack her.

Clara likes to be the centre of attention, and using her Ultimate increases her chances of being hit. This is excellent for any team because it takes the heat off everyone else, which means characters like Asta can stay relatively safe. Asta in particular can use this as a way to stay out of danger while still giving the team a buff, specifically enhancing Clara's counters to the point where most enemies will die from Svarog's retaliation.

2 Fire Trailblazer

While generally not great to double up on characters with the same element, the Fire MC brings several benefits as a tank to any party. These two will work together well, only if the enemy is weak to fire.

There is another function from Asta Talent that grants another stack of her damage buff if the enemy she hits has a fire weakness. This means you can have the ultimate fire team with these two. Exploiting fire weakness will grant double the buff, and the fire Trailblazer can use their shields and taunts to keep everyone safe while Asta powers everyone in the party.

1 Welt

Honkai Star Rail Welt Basic Pose

Welt is an incredibly strong debuffer who can manipulate the turn order to a brilliant effect. As an Imaginary damage dealer, he is incredibly useful in most groups anyway. His abilities can trap enemies and reduce their speed, and this is where Asta comes into the mix.

With Asta's Ultimate, she increases the entire party's speed, which has the potential to bump your characters up the turn order while Welt makes sure they are slowed down so much they will struggle to keep up and even get a turn. Mix in the Breaks you will no doubt be inflicting along with Asta's buff, and you'll stomp over waves of enemies with ease.
