In Honkai: Star Rail, Hook is a chaotic little child, especially when compared to the more composed Clara. She has an explosive personality and an explosive set of moves in battle. Wielding her Diggertron better than anyone could have hoped, Hook walks the path of Destruction and deals fire damage. On the path of Destruction, she deals a large amount of fire damage to a single target; this sets her apart from other Destruction path characters who can also do some AoE attacks.

Her attacks have a chance to deal burn damage, which will deal passive damage to your enemy before their next turn. Considering her focus on dealing immediate and passive damage, Hook is a pretty good main DPS to have on your team. With Hook as your main DPS, you should focus on pairing her with a Sub DPS and two supports.

6 Bailu - Healer

Healers aren't always necessary on your team, especially where Hook isn't as prone to going down as fast as some other characters. Even so, opting for one can be life and time-saving when you're doing long-haul grinding, going up against tough bosses, or fighting in the Simulated Universe.

Natasha is a good option, but she isn't the best option for a healer. Instead, if you manage to pull Bailu in the gacha, don't hesitate to use her! Bailu has a higher baseline heal capacity and a special talent, Gourdful of Elixir, that can revive a character once per battle.

Hook can be a great main DPS, but only if she's still alive to actually deal damage, and with Bailu on your team, you're almost guaranteed to stay alive (with an emphasis on the "almost"). She would fill one of the support slots on your team, leaving you with space for someone who can buff your allies or debuff the enemy in the second support slot.

5 Gepard - Tank

If you want to take some of the heat off of Hook during battle and ease up on how much damage she could be taking, consider adding a Tank character to your party. They fill both the support role and sub-DPS, depending on how you play. If you mainly focus on letting them take the hits and guard, they'll fall more into the category of support, whereas being on the offense will place them into a Sub DPS role.

Gepard is, admittedly, a bit notorious for refusing to die during a battle while still having a naturally high passive Taunt, making him a naturally good tank. He mainly deals with Ice damage, which works to parallel Hook's affinity for fire and expand your range of attack points for weaknesses.

His attacks mainly deal damage, with the chance to freeze enemies occasionally. His ultimate, however, applies a shield to all your allies, absorbing a chunk of whatever damage they may take.

4 Pela - Support

If you want to regularly deal high amounts of damage to your enemies, opting for Pela to fill one of the Support roles is a good route to go down. All of her attacks, whether focused on a single enemy like her skill and ability or attack everyone, like her ultimate, will lower enemy defenses.

The drop in DEF means it's easier to deal large amounts of damage to your enemies, even if you're not attacking them with their weaknesses. If you're fighting high-health bosses, this can help to streamline your fights and keep them from dragging on for an extensive amount of time, as some turn-based combat is wont to do at times.

Pela also functions as a great balance to Hook, as she deals Ice damage. Where Hook can't attack the weak point of an enemy, Pela probably can.

3 Bronya - Support

Bronya functions as a decent protector when on the battlefield, slightly raising your ally's defense and increasing your attack at the same time. Her access to wind damage will lend you yet another chance to break enemy shields, but that isn't the important part.

The important part is that Bronya is one of the best support characters in the game. She deals a decent amount of damage, sure, but her skill dispels debuffs on your allies and allows them to take another turn immediately.

Her ultimate goes further and increases the attack power of all your allies for two turns, meaning you can absolutely wipe the floor with your enemies without even batting an eye. As long as Hook is paired with Bronya, you won't have very much to worry about.

2 Clara - DPS

Clara, or better said, Svarog defending Clara, are the path of Destruction characters - the same as Hook. However, unlike Hook, they have the option of dealing both targeted single-enemy damage and AoE damage. This gives them the versatility to back Hook up on the battlefield, that Hook does not have.

When you're dealing with a main DPS who can only attack individual characters at a time, it's a great option to have someone on the team who can deal Area of Effect damage. Being able to take out entire groups is incredibly helpful, especially when you're farming the Simulated Universe or the various Calyx's throughout Honkai: Star Rail.

Clara and Svarog deal physical damage, which makes them a great option to have. No matter what, they're going to deal a decent amount of damage, and you'll regularly run across groups of enemies that are weak to it. If you can pull Clara in the gacha, she's a great option to have on Hook's team.

1 Welt - DPS

Welt is probably the best sub-DPS character you can have on Hook's team. Not only does he deal a decent amount of Imaginary damage, but being on the path of Nihility allows for him to occasionally imprison your enemies and slow their movements.

Keeping enemies from taking their turns means you can mitigate whatever damage you might have taken if you end up taking any damage. You would have to imagine this would be exceedingly frustrating on the boss's side of things, but for you, it's a smooth ride.

Welt gives you a one-way ticket to victory town, and so long as he's sufficiently leveled up, you can't go wrong. He won't steal the show from Hook in terms of damage dealing, but he will complement her by letting her take more turns before the enemy can slow her down.
