Bailu is one of the best, if not the best, healers in Honkai: Star Rail. She has a higher baseline heal than Natasha, and she can resurrect characters once per battle, courtesy of her Gourdful of Elixir talent. And, although it might not be known to most players if they aren't paying attention, Bailu can temporarily increase the max HP of characters if she heals them above their current maximum.

Once the battle is over, their HP resets to their previous maximum, but while your characters are with her, they will be in excellent hands. Her actual attack deals lightning damage, though it's worth more to focus on healing with Bailu rather than attacking, so make sure you save some skill points for her to use. Bailu is an excellent healer, and she does best when paired with a single support and two DPS (damage per second) units or a Tank and a DPS.

6 Bronya - Support

If you're looking to pair Bailu with a Support unit, look no further than Bronya. Considering that you're probably going to be focusing your materials and relics on building up Bailu's own health and defense so she can best support others, you will likely end up neglecting her attack. Bronya, when using her ability or ultimate, can temporarily raise Bailu's attack.

However, if you want Bronya to function to her fullest potential on Bailu's team, you might want to focus on buffing the other characters on your team first. Bronya works in tandem with Bailu to dispel debuffs so Bailu can more effectively heal. Plus, raising your team's attack (mainly your DPS units) will make Bailu's job much easier in the long run as you cruise through your battles.

5 Himeko - DPS

Himeko is a very nice DPS character to have on your team as she mainly focuses on Area of Effect (AoE) attacks, thanks to being on the path of Erudition. She deals fire damage to enemies in a large group and often uses her follow-up attack to deal even more damage to enemies when their weakness is broken.

She makes grinding through Calyx's an absolute breeze, and if you often find yourself struggling against larger groups of enemies, then you needn't worry anymore so long as Himeko is there. She can deal damage to a single enemy using her base attack, but Himeko really is best suited to using her skill during fights.

So, if you have Himeko and Bailu on your team, you should make sure that you save your skill points for them to use while other characters regenerate them.

4 Clara - DPS

Clara and Svarog are a great duo to have on your team, as they can damage a single enemy or take out multiple with an AoE attack, similar to how the Physical Trailblazer can. However, they are slightly better than the Physical Trailblazer in that Clara and Svarog deal notably more damage and are significantly more durable.

In the later parts of the game, these two are a definitively better option as they tend to hold up better and are more versatile for a main DPS. Because they can deal a significant amount of damage, having Bailu there to back them up is crucial. If you lose some of your hardest hitters in a boss fight, there's no turning back, and you've more than likely just lost.

Through some cruel twist of fate or otherwise, there's a chance that your heavy hitters can be frozen and will just be picked on by the enemies until they're dead. However, Bailu can save you from that horrible twist of RNG by resurrecting this hard-hitting duo.

3 Welt - Sub-DPS

Welt sits in an odd area as a character because he works both as a great support and a wonderful sub-DPS character. However, Welt is not supposed to play an intentionally supportive role. As a path of Nihility's character, Welt's abilities are naturally inclined to slow down the enemy and imprison them for a turn or two.

His own abilities and his ultimate slow down your enemies and delay their turns long enough that they may not even get the chance to take them. His Imaginary damage, however, is significant enough that you'd be silly not to have him as a sub-DPS on your team.

You might think that Welt slowing down enemies and delaying their turns might take away Bailu's ability to shine, but you'd be very wrong in that case. Instead, what Welt does is give the opportunity for Bailu to heal more. When you're in a dire situation, and things aren't looking good, sometimes you just need a few rounds to get everyone's health back up, and Welt can give that to you and Bailu.

2 Gepard - Tank

The only way that a healer can do their job is if they stay alive. If they're constantly getting picked on by enemies or taking all the hits, there's a good chance you can lose them early into the battle and be left struggling the entire time. However, if you have a Tank, like Gepard, on your side, you can direct the hits away from Bailu.

While Gepard doesn't have an ability that actively taunts the enemies, like the Preservation Trailblazer, he does have a naturally high taunt, so he is more likely to draw enemy attacks. Gepard's ultimate also restores a shield to your allies, which will help soften the blows of enemies who target the others.

He makes Bailu's job a bit easier, and if he does draw most of your enemy attacks, it's decided who gets to be healed that turn because nobody else will need it. Gepard also deals a significant amount of ice damage, making him the ideal candidate to sit between support and DPS.

1 Sushang - DPS

Sushang is coming at your enemies hard and fast. She swings her blade like it's the heaviest thing in the world, and with the amount of damage it can deal, you might be inclined to believe that. If you're struggling to pick anyone to be your main DPS, then struggle no longer and pick Sushang.

Her passive talent can allow her to take multiple turns in a row, assuming that there are broken enemies on the field, which means that you can deal hard-hitting damage again and again. The only downside is that her health and defense aren't great.

However, Bailu solves that problem by existing on the team. As long as Bailu is there, Sushang will be happy, healthy, and able to dominate the playing field.
