Clara is one of the five-star characters available in Honkai: Star Rail's permanent standard banner. She's a physical damage dealer, and she has the potential to be one of your most beneficial units if you invest in her the right way.

Clara's path is Destruction, which means she is geared towards physical damage. Her playstyle emphasises taking the enemy's attention and relying on her powerful counterattacks to damage any attackers. Clara's counters are the strongest thing about her, so you'll want party members who will support this style.

7 Asta

Asta (Data Bank) from Honkai: Star Rail

Asta doesn't get a lot of use throughout the game, and this could be down to her being a free-to-play character you get at the start. Asta does have her moments in the spotlight, however. She's a fire user, and her passive talent gives the whole party a stacking damage buff.

Asta works well with Clara because she can hit multiple targets while giving the previously-mentioned damage buff to the whole party. This stacks five times and significantly enhances Clara's counterattacks and AoE Skill. The idea is to stack as much damage as possible on Clara to decimate foes with her counterattack.

6 Arlan

Since Clara wants to be the centre of attention, it should be the case that enemies will attack her more than anyone else in your party. Due to this, Arlan can fulfil the role of DPS, without worrying about how low his HP gets. Using Arlan's Skill costs HP, and the lower his HP, the more damage he deals.

It's not so much that Clara directly benefits from Arlan, but the whole party does. Arlan will be on low HP, and if Clara and Svarog are doing their jobs, Arlan can damage himself as much as he likes and rack up significant damage without being killed. Due to Arlan's single-target nature, he works well in boss fights with this sort of team.

5 Tingyun

Tingyun's role in any team composition is to buff her party members. Her battle Skill increases the target's attack damage and makes all attacks deal an instance of lightning damage with each hit. The idea behind using Tingyun and Clara together is simple.

Buff Clara by stacking damage-increasing buffs, and then let Clara take all the attention. Use Clara's Ultimate to increase her chances of being hit. When she's attacked, Clara will counterattack, and this does high damage regardless of any buffs. Throw in some attack boosts from Tingyun and watch the enemies slowly kill themselves as they attack her.

4 Bailu

While running a team around Clara, you might want to steer clear of Natasha unless you have no other healer options. It's always good to have a healer, and Bailu will suit Clara better than Natasha. Natasha and Clara are both Physical units, which means you'll reduce your versatility by having two of the same type in your teams.

If you have Bailu, slot her into your party with Clara to provide healing to anyone who happens to get hurt. Clara should take most of the heat, and if you use a shielder as well, your enemies will have a hard time taking anyone down.

3 Bronya

Bronya is another character to use with Clara if you don't have Tingyun. Due to how Bronya can significantly boost party attack damage, she is an excellent choice for making Clara an even better unit. Bronya's Skill also moves the chosen party member up in the turn order, letting them take their go next.

Using Bronya and Clara together is a deadly combo, especially if you relying on Clara to do most of your damage. Stacking buffs on Clara and having Clara use her Ultimate will also improve her counterattack, meaning she does even more damage per hit. Clara's Ultimate also makes enemies more likely to target her, resulting in significantly high numbers from her counters if she's buffed when she's hit.

2 Yanqing

Yanqing is an extremely strong single-target DPS character. He plays with Crit rates and can deal astonishingly high damage if he wants to. Yanqing needs to use his Skill to enhance his attacks and Ultimate, but if he is hit, he will lose the buff generated by his Skill.

This is where Clara comes in. Clara should be able to take attention away from units like Yanqing, giving them free rein to spam attacks and not worry about any drops in DPS for Yanqing due to him being hit and losing the effects of his Skill. Just make sure to position Yanqing away from Clara, in case there's a multi-target attack on her.

1 March 7th

March 7th aims her arrow at the enemy field in Honkai: Star Rail.

The more you use March 7th, the more useful you'll find her. Her skill gifts a target ally with a significant shield that will absorb damage, upping the survivability of your party considerably. The best part about using March 7th with Clara is that her passive talent synergises extremely well with Clara.

When an enemy attacks a party member with a shield, March 7th will interrupt and counterattack with an ice arrow. At the same time, if this shield is on Clara – or if Clara has used her Ultimate – she will also counter the hit, giving you two free attacks during any enemy's turn. Get March 7th to slap a shield on Clara, pop Clara's Ultimate, and watch them both counterattack the enemies into oblivion.
