In Honkai: Star Rail, Pela is a background character in Jarilo-VI's storyline. She only makes a few appearances throughout the main storyline. However, when you get the chance to play with her, you'll find she's one of the best support characters in the game.

Pela deals a substantial amount of ice damage and lowers the enemy's defense at the same time. As an additional bonus, when you break a shield with Pela, she has a high chance of freezing the enemy, giving you more free hits. Considering Pela is a support character, teams with her should consist of one other support and two DPS characters.

6 Bronya

Honkai Star Rail Bronya Splash and Menu

Bronya is a great support character to have with Pela, specifically because she's Pela's foil on the battlefield. Where Pela debuffs enemies and lowers their defense, Bronya buffs your allies and raises their attack while removing debuffs from one. As an additional bonus, Bronya focuses on dealing wind damage when you attack with her. If you pay attention during your battles, generally, if an enemy isn't weak to ice, they'll be weak to wind.

For support characters, both Bronya and Pela deal a notable amount of damage, and having both of them in your team allows you to place your team on a pedestal and lord over all your enemies in most fights. If you want to be a little cheeky with it, add Gepard, Serval, or Seele to your team, and you can run around fighting with the Jarilo-VI gang.

5 Bailu

Generally, healers are essential when you're running around and not teleporting often, especially if you're entering the Simulated Universe. Natasha is a good healer, but Bailu is even better if you are lucky enough to get her. Per usual with healers, Bailu walks the path of the Abundance, though, unlike Natasha, she deals lightning damage when you attack with her.

She's a slightly better healer because she can revive an ally once per battle, thanks to her Gourdful of Elixir talent. Bailu also does slightly more damage for her baseline healing than Natasha does. However, you do have to pull her from the gacha, rather than getting her as a freebie from the storyline. If you pull Bailu, don't hesitate to level her up and make her a permanent team member. After all, the only way for Pela to keep debuffing enemies is to keep her alive.

4 Sushang

Honkai Star Rail Sushang Splash and Menu

Sushang is a great Main DPS character. Her health and defense may not be the best, but she hits incredibly hard with physical damage and can take multiple turns in a row if your enemies have broken shields. Pair her with Pela; she can deal large amounts of single-target damage and generally has a high crit rate. Because of her lackluster shield and health, you may be slightly more tempted to put relics and a light cone on her that boost her defense, but you should be building off of her strong suit.

Let the support characters do their job and keep Sushang standing and hitting like a truck. She walks the path of the Hunt, meaning any physical damage she deals is concentrated on a single enemy. As such, Sushang is best complemented on Pela's team by someone who can deal AoE damage rather than a third support.

3 Welt

Honkai Star Rail Welt Splash and Menu

Welt is a path of Nihility character and is one of the only ones who deal Imaginary damage. Being on the path of Nihility generally means that Welt best serves when he is debuffing the enemy and, generally, giving the advantage to your party. However, Welt also deals some serious damage– enough to easily be considered a Sub DPS character rather than a support.

With his Imaginary damage, Welt can imprison your enemies for a turn or two, allowing you to cruise through each battle quickly. This skill is great when you're going against high-level bosses and have previously struggled to defeat them. Pair him with Pela, who will simultaneously lower their defenses, and you're in for a smoother ride. All it takes is a single window to deal some high-damage criticals, and both Welt and Pela can give you that opportunity during a fight.

2 Seele

Honkai Star Rail Seele Splash and Menu

Seele is an amazing choice for your Main DPS, though as a 5-star banner character, you're going to have a rocky road ahead of you if you try to get your hands on her. Regardless, if you manage to get Seele, don't hesitate to level her up quickly. Using Pela's enemy defense down ability alongside Seele's high attack, frequently boosted speed, and her ability to go again after downing an enemy, you will never get her off the battlefield.

There's a higher chance of Pela's defense debuff running out or all of your enemies falling before Seele takes a step back to let others have a turn. Plus, she deals quantum damage and is more reliable than other quantum damage characters, like Qingque. As a path of the Hunt character, Seele deals targeted damage, so when others get a chance to fight back, consider having that "other" character be an AoE attacker.

1 Clara

Honkai Star Rail Clara Splash Art and Menu

Clara, or better said, Svarog defending Clara, is a Destruction type character who deals physical damage, similar to the first variation of the Trailblazer. One of Svarog's attacks is targeted toward a single individual, but his skill is an AoE. This gives Clara and Svarog the versatility that other characters in Honkai: Star Rail don't have.

The damage that Svarog deals is absolutely explosive and, admittedly, very cool to watch. However, coolness doesn't factor into how great a character is on a team (how unfortunate). But Clara and Svarog more than make up for that, regardless.

Clara's talent allows for Svarog to deal counter damage to whoever dares to attack her, which means you can passively deal damage multiple times in a row to enemies with a lowered defense. To make full use of this talent, however, you probably don't want to put a tank like Gepard or the Preservation Trailblazer on your team.
